Customers say: Quality work

"I could not have asked for a better person to do the job. James Walsh is such a nice person, I found him honest and trustworthy. James always showed up on time as well as his workers. Every step was explained to me from beginning to end "NO SURPRISES" as James says. I was comfortable with leaving for the day knowing that the job would be performed to my standards (which says a lot because I have never left anyone to work on my property alone before). The Job started on 4/20/17 and despite the poor weather was completed on 4/24/17. The Job far exceeded my expectations. The stoop and walkway look fantastic. I thank James and his crew for a job that again, was beyond my expectations. I would hire them again in a heartbeat."

Small jobs welcome

"Ours was a small chimney job but one that needed to be done. I had a couple other estimates but wanted to wait the two weeks to get one from Alex due to great reviews on Angie's list. A little concerned we would get lost within the big jobs but Alex treated us as if we WERE a big job. Took care of a sidewalk issue for us while he was here as well. Very impressed with both the customer service skills, reliability, and the work quality. Definitely will be our choice for our patio and front porch work. Highly recommend !"

"Okay where do I even start. Professional, on time, on point, attention to detail, very knowledgeable, fair pricing, absolutely great customer service. Brain and his team are now hired to manage and maintain our beautiful lawn. It's something when you look out your window and see neighbors stop to take pics of your lawn."

Paving Services questions, answered by experts

The ideal distance between stepping stones depends on your design preference. A general rule is to place them about 24 inches apart from center to center to match an average person's stride. Another common approach is to leave about 6 inches of space between the edges of each stone; this can be adjusted to fit the path's total length without cutting pavers. If you plan to plant between the stones, leave at least 6 to 8 inches of space to give the plants room to grow.

The driveway apron is a technical term referring to where a private driveway meets the public street. If there is a sidewalk in front of the house, the driveway apron is typically on the opposite side of the public sidewalk from the driveway itself.

Wet cutting is usually the preferred method. It controls dust, which helps protect your lungs and makes for a cleaner working environment. Plus, the water cools the blade, preventing overheating and prolonging its life while providing smoother, more precise cuts. The downside is the mess—water and asphalt sludge can be messy to clean. Dry cutting, though convenient if water isn’t available, creates a lot of dust, which can be harmful. This also increases the risk of blade damage due to overheating. So, if you have the option, wet cutting is the better method for most asphalt jobs.

There’s no single best asphalt grade—it all comes down to where and how it’s used. Highways and heavy-traffic roads need something tough, like polymer-modified asphalt (PMA) or Stone Matrix Asphalt (SMA). Local roads and parking lots rely on the Performance Graded (PG) system, chosen based on climate. A PG 64-28 mix, for example, handles a broad temperature range while simpler, more cost-effective mixes are typically enough for residential driveways. The best grade of asphalt depends on traffic, weather, and your budget, which is why a professional’s input is always a smart move before making a decision.

Cobblestone driveways can take a major hit on anyone's bank account, begging the question of whether it's worth it to build a cobblestone driveway. Some homeowners might prefer more affordable driveway materials like concrete or pavers, which can give a similar appearance to cobblestone without the high price tag.

Paving your driveway costs between $2,500 and $6,600, to put that in perspective. But for others, there’s nothing quite like the timeless look of cobblestone driveways.
