"I will start off by saying I think I might be the only person in history to say that the renovation went perfectly and I was happy with everything. Let me explain. Wanted a full kitchen and bathroom renovation. We met with Efren (the owner of Nunez Construction) and he had an energy that made us realize that he was experienced and also was open to some new and interesting ideas. He promised the project would be done in 5 weeks - it ended up being 5 weeks and 3 days - essentially on time. The work was flawless and beautiful. He added little flourishes like saddles made of quartz and shelves in an area where a cabinet would not fit. Additionally the measurements from the get go were perfect - the cabinets were the right ones from the beginning and everything fit perfectly in the space on the first try. There were a handful of additional costs - custom shower door, glass cabinets for a bar we built and the appliances (not included in the contract price). All in, Efren stuck to his price, time frame and promise of quality work. Everything from the craftsmanship to the painting were impeccable. What I also appreciated about him was that we stayed in communication with each other from the start. If there was an idea that we presented to him that wouldn’t work in the space, he would let us know and suggest a viable alternative. Great collaboration. Will definitely work with him and his crew again. Already recommended to friends and neighbors."

"I called and they responded immediately.. Came out to house and gave a reasonable estimate for job.. I hired them and they had the job done in two days, workers were nice and friendly. They matched my siding and you can not even tell where the new siding was installed. Very happy with the job they did, decided to get to do my gutters also, and get a estimate for them to paint and seal my new deck. Patricia P"

"I spoke with Boris to explain the problem I was having with my exterior front doors. We were having a lot of problems opening and closing the door. The frame was offline and the door dragging on the ground. The doors were in good condition but the frame was causing a head ache. I thought I would have to replace the whole unit (doors and frame). Golden Touch Remodelers fixed the frame and adjusted the doors. We were relieved. The worker were curious and easy to work with. They made sure that we were satisfied with the work. I would use them again."

"This is a follow-up to a review submitted October 19, 2018 the of excellent work of Rahat owner Kazi Ismail and his crew performed on rebuilding our back steps, and other work in the back of our of property. We were so impressed we immediately contracted him to tackle a far greater challenge: our crumbling front patio and stairs, retaining walls, fencing, and front entrance. The before and after pictures shown here tell the story better and any words we can add. As we mentioned before, Kazi’s principal aim is to make your home the most envied on the block. Not the gaudiest or flashiest, but the most balanced, functional and tastefully balanced. His suggestions for all the materials - brick, iron, and granite - makes for a truly pleasing, harmonious overall impression. After succeeding beyond our highest expectations at this task, we decided to go the distance for a total exterior renovation and contracted Kazi this year to replace our siding and window framing. (When his started removing the old siding, we were amazed to find out there was no installation over the original wood of our 120-year-old house! Our heating bills will be much lower this Winter). We would strongly advise homeowners to give great weight to Kazi’s design suggestions. It is often hard to select the options for materials he presents you with because they all would work. For the cornice and the front door overhang, Kazi found just right pieces that give the house that historical look that prior owners covered up or removed. As mentioned before, Kazi’s crew is excellent, hard working in any weather, prompt and overall pleasant to have around. Most important, we have never felt his estimates were inflated beyond expectation and was never surprised by overruns or other ‘surprises’. He will re-do any work that he isn’t totally satisfied with. Finally, as a testament to our good judgment and trust in Rahat, when all the work was finished, we’ve have had dozens of people (neighbors and strangers) walk by the house, stop and tell us how beautiful it looks!"

"Duraglass was quick to respond to my request for services, and schedule visit to my home - I had 4 panes of glass in wood frames that were needed to be replaced, and a double glass window that also needed to be replaced. DuraGlass arrived on schedule, determined what was needed for repairs; maintained great housekeeping in the execution of the work. cleaned up after the job, kept me informed on progress and status on arrival, and provided consultation on an additional window that needs repairs. The pricing was competitive, and overall, I was very happy with their efforts and would hire Duraglass again."

"My previous contractor disappeared with my money and left my job half done. I saw the work J&S did on my neighbors gate and decided to take a chance on them. I must say, they exceeded my expectations, I now have a beautiful deck for my summer BBQs. Thanks to John and his wife who was in communication every step of the way."

"Absolutely wonderful! Daler arrived early and started work immediately, removing the old air conditioner and installing the new one with conscientious attention to detail and great care to do so without damaging the window frame. His young daughter Robia was also there, handing Daler the correct tools and paying close attention to his work; she is already a top-notch assistant to her Dad! The AC is now securely installed and Daler also took the time to install weather-stripping when he noticed that our window frame was just a tiny bit uneven. Both Daler and Robia were courteous, caring, and truly professional. We would be delighted to hire D & R Repair for future projects!"

FAQs for carpentry projects in Breezy Point, NY

The average cost to hire a woodworker for a project in your home is around $65 per hour, but hourly rates can range from $35 to $250 or more, depending on the experience and skill of the woodworker. Your total woodworking project cost will depend on the complexity of the work, the type of wood, the number of projects, and any other materials your project requires. You could hire a professional woodworker to create everything from a custom cabinet to ornate, unique staircases.

Generally, general contractors charge between $50 and $150 hourly, though not every contractor charges by the hour. If charging based on the project, you can expect a markup of 10% to 20% of the construction cost. You can expect to pay between $300 and $500 daily if charged by the day.

While city and state laws vary on general contractor licensing requirements, hiring an unlicensed general contractor could lead to poor quality work, costly future expenses, and potential code violations. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local general contractor guidelines for your area.

As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:

  • The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check

  • Required to have applicable state and local licenses

  • Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review

  • Paying to advertise their services

  • Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi

Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.

Every woodworker has different skills and experience, so we recommend asking the following questions when hiring a woodworker for your project:

  • How long have you been in the woodworking industry?

  • What experience do you have with my type of project?

  • Do you have customer references I can speak with?

  • How long do you expect my project to take?

  • What is my recourse if I have an issue with your work?

  • Do you charge hourly or per project?

  • Will you work on-site or in your own workshop?

  • Does your fee include the necessary post-job clean-up?

While they perform similar tasks, a carpenter is responsible for the woodworking that goes into construction—like framing, installing sheathing, and hanging kitchen cabinets—while a woodworker tackles more intricate and custom projects—like building custom furniture and installing wainscoting. Based on these definitions, most woodworkers can tackle the jobs of a carpenter, but you should always ask about your specific project when choosing a woodworker to ensure they have the necessary skills to tackle the job.
