"the insulation they recommended saved me about 5000kw a year. the amount of money i am saving is far more the insulation payment on my Eversource bill. No money cost to me out of pocket and my electric bill dropped quite a bit. best move i ever did."
"They did a great job of blowing the insulation in my attic. They were efficient and courteous of our needs very happy with the work performed. I would highly recommend it. I will be calling them to insulate my walls this spring."
"Stu and his team did an excellent job. They were very professional and quickly, efficiently and cleanly put new blown insulation on the attic floor of my old house. He also explained clearly how the insulation works, the R values and benefits. Thank you Discount Insulation."
"The entire experience was great from the entire team. We had a challenging job for crawl space insulation and I couldn't be more impressed with the crew at Good Life. Move forward with confidence!"
"High quality work, timely, responsive and professional. Insulation, sheet-rocking and some electric for large freestanding garage. Would hire them again for other jobs."
"Fausto and his team were great! I would have no hesitation in using them again. I had the attic space of a two-family building insulated with blown-in cellulose. I had already used Tigasi Home Improvement for a smaller Rockwool basement ceiling job and they were very reasonable in price, thorough and clean so I turned to them for this project. Again they gave me what I thought was a reasonable quote for removing old insulation, sealing gaps and then insulation, and Fausto explained the process well. He was very patient and understanding with my tenants' concerns, as access was via a drop down ladder in one unit's hallway. I also wanted an extended platform for storage in the attic and they were able to sort this out for a reasonable price. The team kept the job site extremely tidy and they were pleasant throughout. I would not hesitate to use Tigasi gain for another project. Plus I found them to be just really, really nice guys! A before pic and some after here."
"Joe and his team were extremely knowledgeable - he thoughtfully explained our options and walked me through the benefits of each. Would recommend Koala for your insulation needs."
"I'm a General Contractor (Jon Beer Contracting is my company) and recently worked with Corey and his team from Prestige Energy Solutions. We are doing a combination of a gut renovation and a new build on my own personal home that had a lot of tricky details and moving parts. From start to finish his team was professional, attentive, clean and skilled. I wouldn't hesitate to hire him for our future insulation needs."

"We hired Connecticut Basement Systems to encapsulate our 23 year-old crawlspace. The sales representative came to do an estimate and was very helpful - he explained his recommendations clearly and gave us literature which explained the science in more detail. We were somewhat cost-conscious and he helped us get the most bang for our buck. We were able to arrange financing from an affiliate, and the process was incredibly easy. The crew came to do the work yesterday - they laid down a drainage mat and rigid insulation on the floor slab and walls topped by a plastic liner, set up a dehumidifier with a drainage line to a sump pump (which they also installed). I was amazed that they were able to complete everything in one day. When the job was complete, the foreman went into the crawlspace with me and showed me everything they had done. I had spent some time in the crawlspace removing the old insulation and was struck by how clean the finished product felt - to say nothing of the energy efficiency and moisture removal benefits. We have no plans to do additional work in our basement for the time being, but if and when we decide to do any, Connecticut Basement Systems will be our first call. Truly a pleasure to work with from start to finish. "
The two most common drywall thicknesses for ceilings are 1/2-inch and 5/8-inch. For most standard residential applications, 1/2-inch drywall is sufficient and widely used. It provides adequate support and is lighter and easier to handle during installation compared to thicker sheets. However, 5/8-inch drywall is often used for specific cases where additional benefits are needed. It is heavier but provides superior sound dampening and fire resistance. You should consider using 5/8-inch drywall for ceilings in commercial buildings, between a garage and a living space, or above a finished basement to meet building codes or for enhanced soundproofing.
Drying alone can take 1 to 4 hours to dry to the touch per plaster layer, but some types of plaster take several hours longer to dry. However, this doesn’t mean the job is done because plaster doesn’t fully harden until it cures, which can take a few days to a couple of weeks. It may take even longer if you’re building a new, pretty thick plaster wall. Allow the plaster to cure before painting it.
Drywall mudding can be done in one day if the project is small and the desired effect isn’t too complex. If you need multiple layers of mud, one day may not be realistic. But a single room that requires little more than joint compound on the seams and screws can be done in a day or two.
Yes, small, superficial cracks are normal as homes settle. Older homes have a higher chance of showing signs of settling through hairline cracks from temperature changes, moisture changes, and soil shifting. However, larger cracks, or discolored cracks from water damage, may signify a bigger problem that requires reparations and preventative measures.
Some textures are easier than others to DIY, but the short answer is yes, you can absolutely texture walls yourself. You’ll need certain materials, like a trowel or paint sprayer, but the most important things you’ll need are patience and time. DIYing wall texture can save money and be a fun, messy project, but homeowners need to know that adding texture to a wall isn’t a quick project.
