If your cabinet doors feel too low or too high, you may have an issue with your hinges as well. Try tightening the screws on your hinges. If that doesn’t work, you can loosen your screws on the hinges, adjust the door slightly up or down and then tighten them again.

While you may have heard people use millwork and carpentry interchangeably, they aren’t the same. Millwork is a type of carpentry, which means that carpentry isn’t always millwork. You can tell millwork apart from other types of carpentry because it’s manufactured at a mill. Notably, casework is also confused with millwork. Casework is different because it refers to boxes like cabinets and bookshelves.

The primary reinforcement of pantry shelves comes from the 1-by-2 strips attached to the wall under the back of your shelves. You can add additional reinforcement with wooden corbels—a type of bracket—and U- and L-shaped metal brackets to link the shelving together in each junction.

You can remove stripped screws with some elbow grease and an extractor kit for severe cases. Don’t forget to purchase replacement screws or hardware. In rare cases, cabinet handles may be glued on, in which case you can use a box cutter or similar knife and a pair of pliers to carefully remove the handle without damaging the cabinet. You may want to replace those handles entirely rather than try gluing them on again.
