"I had a bathroom toilet not flushing properly. T-Mark personnel was able to come out within a couple of days. Turned out after very brief inspection of the plumber that the sewer drain outside was partially blocked. Very quick and very professional job done to clear the blockage using all the right tools. Took almost 1 1/2 hours and the price agreed upon ahead of time was reasonable. Everything works again normally. I am a very happy customer."

"Chris came over and had my drain snaked within a half hour. He was very friendly and knowledgeable! He took the time to explain everything he was doing and didn't make me feel like I was a bother to him. I will be using them again in the future!"

"I was told I would need to have an additional new breaker box installed to add one outlet. Also, because the electrician arrived more than an hour and a half late (he finally showed up about 5 minutes until 5pm), he told me he didn't know what the problem with the existing outlet was but he ends his day at 5 so he had no time to to look at it. Basically, he told me I could pay him to come back out to install the additional breaker box with a new outlet and then he would try to see what the problem might be."

"Our Waterproofing system was installed 5 years ago. The exterior drain oipe from the sump pump needed to be replaced. The crew, Chris and Will, showed up on time, knew what needed to be done and completed the job quickly and efficiently. We were very satisfied with the job."

"Went well. Had to run out a couple times to find the right size items for a very old house (built in 1920s). This two foot of old pipe was responsible for all our water pressure problems. Inside the old galvanized pipe was found almost an inch thick of rust/buildup."

Small jobs welcome

"Our job was installing drainage in the backyard. The team from Nickel City showed up on time, were courteous, installed the drainage and put the yard back together so you would never know they dug it up! The did a great job cleaning up after themselves. Charle even followed up with a personal call to ensure we were satisfied with the job. I highly recommend this firm!"

"Jim called me within 10 minutes & came over that day to assess my sump pump/drain issues. We was very knowledgeable, gave us suggestions & we didn't feel pressured to do anything. My issue was water coming up from the basement floor drains even with a small amount of rain & the sump pump ran all the time. We scheduled the work to be done that week. He was prompt, finished everything in less than 1 day (including digging outside), & left no mess. Our basement has been dry even with the downpour a few days ago! Best thing we ever did. Highly recommend this company - a good plumber is hard to find!"

Drain Pipe Installation questions, answered by experts

No. You should dispose of all oil-based finishing products through a local hazardous waste program. Not only can oil-based finishes be hazardous for the environment if disposed of in the sink, but they can cause clogs in your pipes and stop up your drains. Most municipal garbage or waste disposal companies have a specific location or pick-up schedule for hazardous materials, so that’s your best bet to get rid of excess finishing products.

A bit of water in the bowl can help unclog a toilet, especially if you're using a plunger. However, if the bowl is full to the brim, you'll need to strap on gloves and remove some of the wastewater in a cup or container so it doesn't overflow when you try to unblock the pipe. If you're concerned about it filling further, manually close the flapper in the toilet tank or turn off the water supply to the toilet.

The first rule of plumbing is nothing but water, toilet paper, number one, and number two go down the drain.

To prevent clogs, get yourself:

  • A compast pail where you can clean plates, drain grease, and toss scraps and paper towels.

  • Drain screens for the shower, tub, and bathroom sink to stop hair, jewelry, toys, etc. from going down the drain.

  • Trash cans for everything that shouldn’t go down the drain, like dental floss, hygiene products, and cat litter.

P.S.: If you do drop your priceless ring down the drain, take a deep breath, and then follow these steps to retrieve jewelry from your drain.

Anything from debris, rust, ice, and even poor installation can cause clogs in your plumbing vents. Some signs of a clog include slow drains, gurgling sounds in drains and toilets, and bad odors. The bad odors are the most concerning, as these can include methane and hydrogen sulfide. Contact a plumber to come take a look if you notice any of these signs.

You should not attempt to snake your sewer yourself. Accessing and snaking your sewer requires heavy-duty equipment, and while renting is possible, misusing it can damage your sewer main and leave you with very expensive repair costs, not to mention potential environmental issues and severe water damage. Accessing your sewer also exposes you to hazardous sewer gasses, and failing to seal the sewer properly after work can be very dangerous. It’s always best to hire a professional sewer cleaner near you to handle this type of work.
