"Eddie was our electrician. Came out in the morning to provide us with an estimate. Based on other estimates, the price seemed very fair. We were available to have the work done in the afternoon and Clark was able to accommodate our needs. We had an electrical vehicle plug installed in our garage and the installation was very clean. We are very satisfied with everything—timing, ability to accommodate and installation."

"Richard Leavitt, electrician, did our electrical assessment and estimate. Personable, knows his stuff. Today, Luis Hernandez & Jonathan worked from 9 am thru lunch til 4:30 to complete the long list of necessary repairs/upgrades & bath exhaust fan replacement. Luis & Jonathan went above and beyond in the work and ìn customer relations. Luis checked with us throughout the day. Most impressed."

"We had talked about replacing windows for a few years. We get window salesman in our area constantly. Came across Home Improvements enterprises on a google search. We asked 4 companies for quotes. After all 4 quotes completed we chose Home Improvements quote. The same windows at about $4000 less than the other quotes, no salesman just Robert. The windows took about 7 weeks to be built due to covid . Windows installed yesterday along with one slider. 2 man crew showed up installed all windows. Crew worked well and cleaned up after. Nice job all around. Windows are nice , plus they took all the old windows away."

Generator Install questions, answered by experts

You can expect a diesel generator to last for up to 30,000 hours of use, which works out to 20 to 25 years with the proper maintenance, of course. That depends on how much you use it, so a diesel generator used for emergencies a couple of times a year will last a lot longer than a generator that takes over for a faulty electrical grid every month for a day or two.

No, you should never plug a generator directly into a wall outlet in your house. This practice is extremely dangerous, often illegal, and can cause "back-feeding," where power from the generator flows back into utility lines, creating a life-threatening hazard for utility workers. It can also damage your home's electrical system, including appliances like pumps and HVAC fans. If the main power is restored while the generator is connected, it can destroy the generator and cause an electrical fire. To safely connect a generator, you must use a professionally installed transfer switch or an interlocking kit, which prevents back-feeding by disconnecting your home from the utility grid before the generator provides power.

While the rating will tell you how many watts the refrigerator needs at the peak of its cycle, it requires additional wattage to start. At the bare minimum, you’ll need a 1,500-watt generator to get the fridge up and running after a blackout. A 2,000-watt generator should be sufficient for most home refrigerators.

In most municipalities, you will need a permit to install a permanent home generator, including emergency backup, partial-home, and whole-home generators. A permit for a generator usually costs between $50 and $250, depending on where you live. Your electrician or certified generator installer will usually pull the permit for you—and might be required to do so by your building department—but you’ll be on the hook for the cost of the permit. You should ask your installer before agreeing to any work if they will pull the necessary permits for your project.

While natural gas generators are costly, they’re a great option for standby power due to the reliability of natural gas as a fuel source. Unlike other fuels, natural gas is delivered through underground pipes, making outages extremely rare and less likely to be affected by the elements. As long as the area isn’t prone to earthquakes, they offer an unlimited supply of natural gas that doesn’t degrade over time or require storage in tanks.
