"A.k.A Electric, LLC is my go to Electrician and I highly recommend them. Communication-immediate, they called when they were on their way, and they answered all my questions thoroughly. Arrived on time and within 20 minutes had the problem identified and resolved. I had other Electricians who spent hours and gave up. I was so pleased I ended up having them install 5 floodlights, bathroom light, switches, etc. They worked efficiently and cleaned up at each install site. All work was completed in under 4 hours. I was so impressed I have additional projects (bathroom/kitchen makeover, security cameras, column lights, etc.) to work. The price for the work was extremely reasonable and they were so pleasant. I asked for additional contact cards to share with my neighbors and family. Hire A.K.A Electric, LLC and you'll be very happy. They know how to resolve problems!"

"Kevin, the owner of KSM, is a good guy to work with. It's obvious he has a lot of experience and is able to think on his feet. He removed a marble tile from our wall and installed new valves. It was a tight workspace and took several hours to get everything where it needed to be. I was able to find some matching marble tile here in town and they cut that to fit the new fixtures. He also spent several hours removing some old moldy caulk from around the perimeter of the tub and redoing it. Very labor intensive but it ended up looking nice. It wasn't cheap but plumbers rarely are. I wouldn't hesitate to use him again.

"Tech called ahead, and arrived during the two hour window specified when the appt was made. The issue was that the kitchen sink drain piping was prone to clogging from garbage disposal and the Tee connection. He replaced most of the piping under the kitchen sink, and re-structured it to minimize any future problems. He was polite and helpful. Tested the work and adjusted it to ensure it was installed correctly. Cleaned up and left the undersink area as found. The job was done right. Only issue is that he rounded the time spent up to the next half-hour, and did not apply the correct amount for the Angie's List coupon. Did not note that until after he had left. Saw some of the negative Angie's List reviews, but we did not have any of those issues."

"I received two quotes; one for a basic single stage Trane unit, and the second for a two stage option. I informed Williams I was interested in having them install the two stage option, but that I would select a date about two months in the future. They were very easy to work with and we scheduled the work to suit my needs. They arrived at the site about 30 minutes later than I had been informed, but a quick call to the office confirmed they were on their way and they completed the job within the general timeline I had been provided. They installed a different thermostat than was quoted, but when this was pointed out to the technicians they went back to the shop to get the one I expected. Very easy to work with this company, the technicians were professional, and the unit is running great. I would recommend their services to anyone."

"Very well. I needed more light in the bedroom plus the fan. I also asked the electrician about installing a fan on my back patio. He was very good explaining the best way to do it. Gave me a price range and overall very knowledgeable."

Chandelier Installation questions, answered by experts

For every foot of ceiling height, your chandelier should have two to three inches of height. To calculate the width of the ideal chandelier, determine the width and length of the room.

Add these two numbers together and that is the number of inches wide your chandelier should be. For example, if your room is 15 feet wide and 15 feet tall, you will need a chandelier that is 30 inches wide.

Daylight bulbs are brighter than bright white bulbs because their color temperature ranges from 5000K to 6500K, producing a crisp, bluish-white light that mimics natural sunlight. This type of lighting is ideal for task lighting and workspaces. The color temperature of bright white bulbs hovers between 3500K and 4100K, offering a clear, neutral light that is less intense.

Between the relatively simple process and the lower cost of installing recessed lighting yourself, it’s not a bad idea to DIY this project. It will take a little reading on electrical safety and how to properly wire your new recessed fixture, but it’s fairly easy to install a new fixture in just a couple of hours if you have the right tools and supplies on hand. But, if you’re not familiar with lighting installation, hiring a professional can give you peace of mind and ensure the job is done right.

This is definitely a matter of personal taste, but certain spaces might be better suited to recessed lighting than others. Areas where you need good task lighting, such as the laundry room, kitchen, or home office could be good candidates for recessed LED lighting. You also might choose to use it for a sleek, subtle lighting option in a living room where you want to highlight other aspects of the space.

You should hire a licensed electrician who is insured to perform any electrical work on your home, including lighting installation. States have different requirements for licensing and certifying electricians, so use Angi’s state licensing tool to review local guidelines.

Here are a few questions to ask electricians before hiring:

  • How many years of electrical experience do you have?

  • Are you licensed, bonded, and insured?

  • Do you work with subcontractors?

  • Do you provide a guarantee or warranty on your work?

  • What is the timeline for completion?

  • How do you handle change orders?

  • Can you provide at least three customer references?
