"The job went well. There are some cracks around some of the windows. I was remiss in not calling Larry about the repairs. He came by on his own and said he would do the repairs when I felt safe doing so because of the Covid-19 threat. I'm the one that held off. This is a very good company and if I gave the impression otherwise I didn't mean to. I would definitely hire again."

"Double R also did home renovations, electrical and plumbing for me. Jaime and his crew were excellent!! Very professional, pleasant to work with. The quality of the work was outstanding. Would recommend them for any construction/painting needs. Very much worth the cost. Plus, they were here on time every day, and didn't miss a day during the entire project. Can't say enough good things about Jaime and Double R. Thanks guys!!"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Yes, you must thoroughly clean your deck before staining. If you don't, dirt, debris, grease, and mildew can get trapped between the wood and the new stain. This not only looks unsightly but also prevents the stain from penetrating the wood properly, reducing its ability to protect the deck from weather and UV rays. As a result, the stain won't last as long or look as good. Any existing mold or mildew left untreated can continue to grow beneath the new stain, potentially leading to wood rot and structural damage. Always wait at least 48 hours after cleaning for the wood to dry completely before applying stain.

The best temperature to paint a pool deck is between 50 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit, because many paints and sealers require temperatures warm enough for the chemical reaction to take place for proper curing. The paint should not be allowed to freeze, and temperatures above 90 degrees can cause the paint to dry too quickly, also preventing the chemical reaction from following through to completion.

Wood stains last anywhere from two to five years, depending on exposure to the elements, your local climate, the type of stain, and the surface it’s on. For instance, vertical surfaces last longer than horizontal surfaces. Some types of woods, like dense hardwoods, will require a recoat yearly, as they are too dense for the stain to absorb. In any event, apply a recoat every 2 to 4 years. As for storage, a can of unopened stain can last up to 5 years, though results may vary.

Yes, you can waterproof any wood that has not already been treated. A good way to test this is to splash some water on it. If the water starts to bead up, the wood is treated and most likely doesn’t need another coating.

Yes, professionals offer slip-resistant options for added workplace safety.
