"I was very impressed with Sentri Homes - their customer service was excellent. They sent a subcontractor to install some vinyl laminate in my bathroom and he ended up getting glue all over the carpet in our bedroom. The sub ended up ghosting both me and Sentri, leaving me stuck with a ruined carpet. Sentri stuck with me for over a month to get the carpet replaced with the identical original and to get the vinyl job 100% completed. The carpet was a Home Depot exclusive and Sentri handled everything with them. I will be using Sentri for a much bigger renovation I have coming up soon, because I know that they will make sure everything gets done right no matter what problems come up. The vinyl looks great too."

"Universal responded promptly, understood the problem, were knowledgeable in offering solutions and estimated the cost fairly. They accomplished the repairs in two visits arriving as scheduled each day, worked without breaks and left the area as clean as they found it. The job was completed to our satisfaction and billed as estimated. Yes we would call on Universal for future flooring repairs."

"Gary did a wonderful job in putting a polycuramine coating on our concrete garage floor. We got three estimates and his was only about 1/3 the cost of the highest estimate. He had the most reasonable way of preparing the floor, involving acid etching, degreasing, and then repairing the cracks. The "paint" that he used--Rustoleum's Rock Solid Polycuramine coating is 20 X stronger than epoxy. On top of the paint, he scattered sprinkles, and once that had cured, he applied a clear coat. It looks beautiful and we receive compliments on it all the time. I couldn't be happier with the work that he did, and I'll definitely hire him again for any future jobs."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

Depending on carpet type and labor, costs range from $3 to $12 per square foot.

You can save money on labor costs by removing your old carpet before the professionals come in to install the new carpet. Just make sure to clear it with your contractor ahead of time. You might also be able to cut costs by buying carpet at certain times of year when it’s less expensive. These periods include late December to mid-January and late spring to early summer.

Berber is a loop pile carpet known for its strength, durability, and distinct looped look. It can be made from a number of different carpet materials, including nylon and wool. However, Berber isn’t as soft as cut pile carpet, so it isn’t the best carpet for a bedroom (although it’s a good style of carpet for living rooms).

With that said, if you really like the look of Berber, you can still install it in your bedroom—it just might not be as comfortable on your feet as cut pile carpeting.

Plywood is the best type of subfloor for a mobile home, though if you’re installing flooring in a bathroom, you may want to install a vapor barrier or use a moisture-proof subfloor material like Amdry. OBS is similar, but it can swell when moisture is present.

Either way, old mobile home subflooring made from particleboard can cause issues with your joints. If you’re replacing your subfloor, it’s best to upgrade to plywood.

When it comes to linoleum versus laminate, the better choice depends on your personal needs. Linoleum tends to last longer but is more difficult to install. Laminate is less eco-friendly and less durable, but it is easy to install without a professional.

Both options come in a wide variety of styles, but many prefer the look of laminate. Laminate and linoleum are affordable flooring options compared to hardwood or tile, but laminate costs less at about $0.70 to $2 per square foot.
