"Mike Sauer and his crew did a great job. They not only repaired plaster but also removed fixtures (like tv brackets) and repaired the plaster after removal. Mike went the extra mile by painting after plastering, getting someone in to repair some grout and also remembered to install a door stop. He and his crew were organized and easy to work with and finished in a very timely manner. They also were very careful with our wooden floors that had just been refinished. I wish everyone I hired to do work in our home was this responsible. I highly recommend Mike and his crew."

"A crew of eight people repaired the parapets and other issues with the house, which is approximately 10 years old. The weather was quite uncertain, but Blue Sky Drywall, Lath & Plaster worked with us to make sure that condition were right to apply the final coat. They performed a water test on each of the windows to ensure there was no leakage. The color coat was applied over a two-day period and the results were very good. The owner came and reviewed the work with me and will repair two very small issues. The new stucco is thicker than the previous material providing better protection. The Blue Sky crew were fabulous. They were very professional and courteous. They did an excellent job of protecting the landscaping around the house. "
Bob Reule, Jay Adams (Foreman) and crew were extremely professional and the work was completed on schedule. This work included cleaning and conditioning of a conventional stucco surface, which had been painted, and the application of a STO Powerwall stucco product. This work also included repair of a water damaged exterior wall and windows sills which were not discovered until surface preparations began. The overall quality of work and attention to detail was excellent. The crew was punctual, courteous and did an excellent job cleaning the worksite on a daily basis. The Foreman made frequent site visits and was always available if questions arose. As an engineer, I appreciated the technical knowledge and experience that Bob and his Foreman brought to this project and their willingness to discuss the science behind the STO product line and construction materials. Bob also spend considerable time with us discussing ideas to help us complete other aspects of this exterior remodeling project. If you want quality, Reule Sun Corp. should be on the top of your list.
"Western Wall responded quickly to our request for a quote on our deteriorating ceiling. We discussed corrective action and received a very good price. Cesar and his crew from Western Wall covered our floor, set up their scaffolding, removed all loose plaster, replastered all broken edges and then covered the entire ceiling with an Italian marble plaster. Done in 3 days. Beautiful look! Very happy with the results. Very prompt and professional. Yes, would hire them again."
"Bill did an excellent job of filling, sanding, and painting the columns, vigas, and latillas. For the wood under the portal where we wanted to maintain stain, he did a beautiful job of matching the wood and making the filled areas look natural. He also painted our ductwork and other metal components to color match the stucco, repairing the stucco in a few places along the way. Bill is extremely reliable, meticulous in his cleanup, and fairly priced. Our next door neighbors saw Bill's work and hired him for their project."
"It went great! They were very quick to respond and get me on the schedule. Before the repair, they showed care and concern for my home by going above and beyond in preventative work. At no cost, he put a tarp over my roof to prevent leaking when a storm was coming. He also was very communicative with my insurance company to ensure the job was done in full and correctly. I would highly recommend him."
"Sodo Construction is great. They repaired my roof that had severe hail damage. They were on time, professional and efficient. Not only did my roof come out beautiful, they cleaned up after and even came out to ask how I liked it and if there was any issues. None from me. I am going to request their service again on future plans and additions to my house. I worked with Sarah Jaramillo directly and she answered all my questions and concerns. Use Sodo Construction, you will not be disappointed."
"I made the appointment to redeem my Big Deal with no problem. Even so, no one showed up at the appointed time. A half hour after the service provider was to arrive, I called the owner, Michael Ortiz, who apologized and got off the phone to call his crew. He called me back in a few minutes, and said that he would personally come over and do the job himself. He arrived promptly 20 minutes later and swiftly and expertly completed my drywall repair job. He was very professional and courteous. I will use hime again. "
The tool you use to sand plaster will depend on the size of the project. If you’re just working on a small section of your wall to get rid of an uneven spot on the surface, hand-sanding might work. However, for larger projects, a drywall sander can make a huge difference when it comes to both time and elbow grease—and an orbital sander can help for detailed areas such as around ceiling fans.
The allure of Venetian plaster lies in its unique appearance and individual characteristics in a home. It’s sophisticated and multidimensional and has a rich history dating back to Ancient Rome. This type of plaster finish is durable and represents a style of luxury that has been practiced for thousands of years. Many designers pair the texture of Venetian plaster with modern furnishings, resulting in an elegant and refined aesthetic.
Your walls are likely cracking due to fluctuations in the temperature outside. Drywall tends to expand and contract when temperatures and humidity levels change, and this repeated movement can lead to cracks in your walls, particularly around door frames. If you have multiple diagonal cracks, you may want to have your foundation inspected, as cracks can also be a sign of a bigger issue.
If your home was built before the 1940s and was not remodeled in the past 50 or so years, you probably have plaster walls. Aside from assuming, there are some practical ways to tell if you have plaster walls, including the following: If you knock on the wall and it feels solid, not hollow, if you can’t insert a thumbtack easily, if there are cracks that look like spiderwebs, or if your home has curved, arched, or swirled walls, doorways, or window openings.
If you have an unfinished basement or attic, you could examine the backs of any finished walls to check, too.
Plaster is a beautiful finish but is labor-intensive to install and remove. It’s vulnerable to cracking and more sensitive to moisture variance than drywall. Installing plaster on a new wall is an expensive process that can take days to weeks, depending on the scope. Removing a plaster wall can also be quite expensive and time-consuming.
