The shower leaked from the 1st floor to the 2nd and caused water damage to a brand new kitchen. Eddie tried to fix it 4 times but did not know what to do. "John and Chris are the best subs that my partner and I have ever worked with. They do not cut corners and won't leave something that does not have a quality look. They recently installed laminate flooring in our whole house, minus the bathrooms. Their sales woman was patient with us as we went back by their shop 3 times to sample different floor types. While they were working on it we let John know we were interested in redesigning our master bathroom and he already had ideas for us as well. They finished up the floor and it looks great. Have gotten a lot of compliments on it already. John and Chris were able to get started on the bathroom right away once the floors were done and got to a good stopping point. It took us a while to get our plumbing and drywall finished but once those were done they came back out and finished the job up quickly. It looks amazing and they did top quality work. My girlfriend loves the bathroom and spends a lot of time in it! We will be recommending East Mountain Flooring to our friends and family and will use them again when we decide to redo our guest bathroom."

I run a small customer - oriented general contracting service in the Las Cruces, NM area. The majority of my work involves residential repairs and remodels.

"We can't say enough to express how much we appreciated Kent and the work he did. Our job consisted of not only having 7 regular grab-bars installed but an upgraded toilet assist which consists of two bars that rise AND lower operating independently on each side of the toilet in our guest bathroom. They lower and lift back up to the wall when not needed, and one includes a toilet paper rod to complete it's efficiency. We also had two " Toilevators" brandname, installed under each of our two toilets so that we had our 2 toilets lifted 3" without dealing any longer with those nasty plastic toilet risers that will take urine stains that are impossible to clean. He has a partner that specializes in the toilet jobs. They work together flawlessly. In the middle of ALL this, we had a crisis with my elderly husband who required a two week hospital stay and then "away from home" recovery care, so I was tied up with his care. Kent can be trusted implicitly as I had to arrange a "hide a key" during my husband's crisis, which worked perfectly. He was a Godsend since he performed the complex job flawlessly, in two days, operating when I couldn't be there. He has a great working relationship with his "toilet expert" partner, with Kent being the lead. Kent will be my "GO TO" contractor for any construction job at our house, in the future!!! (p.s. He has a good heart and showed compassion when he inquired about my husband & wishing us both well. STELLAR!!! --- LZ"

Bathtub Restoration questions, answered by experts

If you don’t caulk your bathtub, then there won’t be a watertight seal between your bathtub and the wall tile surrounding it. As a result, water can seep into the wall and the floor and cause the perfect breeding grounds for mold and mildew. Not only does this require costly repairs, but mold can be harmful to those breathing it. 

Before you begin caulking a shower, you’ll need to use a utility knife or solvent to remove the old caulk and inspect the area for mold. If needed, take appropriate steps to get rid of the mold, then wipe everything down with dish soap and warm water before letting it dry completely. Finally, surround the caulking area with two strips of blue painter’s tape—one above the joint where you’re caulking and another below it.

Two alternatives to reglazing are installing a bathtub inlay or a bathtub liner. An inlay is a low-priced mat that adheres to the bottom of a bathtub or shower. It’s useful for sealing minor leaks and concealing damage on the bottom of a tub. On the other hand, a bathtub liner is essentially a protective casing that goes over the entire tub. They are usually custom-fit and cost more than reglazing yet don’t last as long.

The reglazed tub won’t last as long as a brand-new bathtub. Professional reglazing jobs can only last up to 15 years.

According to most pros, you can only reglaze a tub once or twice. So, if you’ve already reglazed your tub once, it might not be a realistic solution.

Some chemicals used in reglazing a bathtub can be dangerous to your health. If you’re DIYing the project, ensure the room is ventilated, and always wear a mask. If you hire a contractor, make sure you get the clearance to use the bathroom again.

Even at the lowest setting, there’s always a risk that pressure washing might damage your shower or tub. Never use this technique if there’s pre-existing damage in your shower or tub, like peeling caulk, sealant, or cracked tiles. And skip this method entirely if there are any wood features present.
