"Felipe and all of his employees were great! Did a big remodel on our master bath and moved bravely from the 70s to the 21st century! Huge walk in shower and custom vanity is gorgeous! Felipe and Art checked in with us on all decisions and made some excellent recommendations. Finished within the timeline discussed. We have another bathroom to go and will definitely be calling Professional Contracting Builders!"

"Kevin worked efficiently and did an excellent job of assembling the IKEA shelf unit. He was creative in fastening it to the wall (for safety). He cleaned up the work space, and he was personable to have in my home."

"My experiences on HomeAdvisor have been, frankly, mostly unsatisfactory. But Amtek Builders was a real gem among a lot of dirty pebbles. We hired Mike Antonen of Amtek to build a garden shed and greenhouse for a small vineyard and extensive planted grounds around our home. We didn't want the kind of pre-fab shed you can buy in big-box stores' parking lots. We wanted a structure that closely mirrored our home's architecture and colors, but was practical and cost-efficient. Mike spent the time to understand our wishes. When all the professional plans were done and proper permits arranged, work began. Amtek's crews were always on time and did a good day's work, always leaving their workspace as clean as they possibly could. Every major phase of workâ foundation, framing, roof, stucco, etc.â was followed by a state inspection. Nobody ever thought about dodging the rules, and that was a great comfort. When it was done, Mike's crew restored the entire area to its original condition and he gave us a tutorial on all the little things we should know as new garden shed owners. Mike's high standards made us feel like this job was in the right hands. Mike always had time to answer my questions, no matter how dumb. He was accessible, honest, and friendly ... and very knowledgeable. And get this: He didn't ask for our last payment until AFTER the job was done to our satisfaction. When our 350sf shed/greenhouse was finished, my wife and I toasted and considered the project worth every penny. Would we hire Mike again? Without a moment's hesitation, and we probably will. Take my advice: Hire Amtek and skip all the headaches and heartaches of ordinary contractors."

Customers say: Quick response

"AMC did a bathroom remodel in m home. I have an older home and Hugo and his provided great suggestions and guidance to work around some of the quirks inherent in older builds. There were shortages of materials due to COVID but AMC didn't miss a beat and aggressively pursued getting what was needed to keep on schedule. Hugo cares about the customer, listens and wants to ensure they are happy with the results. I highly recommend Aztec Mountain Construction."

"The crew that worked on this remodel, led by Alejandro, were prompt in arriving, patient with our questions, and very responsive to our requests. They were very skilled and thorough, and completely changed our home for the better. I highly recommend this company, since it provides full services, such that plumbing and electrical are available from within the organization, as opposed to waiting for subcontractors to respond."

"I was very impressed with Sentri Homes - their customer service was excellent. They sent a subcontractor to install some vinyl laminate in my bathroom and he ended up getting glue all over the carpet in our bedroom. The sub ended up ghosting both me and Sentri, leaving me stuck with a ruined carpet. Sentri stuck with me for over a month to get the carpet replaced with the identical original and to get the vinyl job 100% completed. The carpet was a Home Depot exclusive and Sentri handled everything with them. I will be using Sentri for a much bigger renovation I have coming up soon, because I know that they will make sure everything gets done right no matter what problems come up. The vinyl looks great too."

Barndominium Builders questions, answered by experts

The construction stage is almost always the longest part of building a house. Within this stage, framing often takes the most time, lasting anywhere from one week to a couple of months, depending on the home's size, the crew, and the time of year. Other parts of the construction phase include pouring the foundation and installing doors, windows, a roof, siding, drywall, and flooring. The planning and design phase can also be very time-consuming, sometimes taking months or even years, especially for a custom home. The final finishing process, which includes painting and installing trim, is typically shorter than the construction or planning stages.

It may be tempting to DIY the construction of a swing set to save money, but we don’t recommend it. Since children will use the swing set, the entire system must be solid and safe, meaning the cost savings aren’t worth potentially endangering them. Plus, most DIYers will have to build their swing sets out of wood, which won’t last as long as metal or vinyl and introduces the risk of splinters. Instead, hire a local playground equipment installer to ensure the swing set is built safely and efficiently, setting up your kids for fun for years to come.

Whether a prefab home is worth it or not will depend on your personal needs and preferences. Overall, prefab homes tend to cost less than traditional homes, although they also tend to have lower resale values. Another thing to consider is that prefab homes usually last 50 to 60 years or longer, while traditional homes last 50 to 100 years or more.

You can use a variety of wood to build a barn door, but the most common options include 1-by boards and 2-by boards for the backing and the decorative boards on the front of the door. Softwoods like pine will save you some money and should hold up well, while hardwoods like maple and oak will stand up to more wear and tear. You could also build the backer out of plywood to minimize the cuts you need to make. Whatever you decide on, make sure the width of the wood is compatible with the mounting brackets you buy.

A simple A-frame chicken coop can take as little as three hours to build, but a more substantial all-in-one coop to house a large flock can take four or five days to build. Consult a local handyperson or custom coop builder for a time estimate based on the specific details of your project.
