"Felipe and his crew did a large project for me (back porch) and myriad smaller items to repair our new home. Short version: I'll definitely be using them again and recommending them, but you need to be engaged. They are not a set-and-forget crew. In general, the quality of the work is high. The porch is exactly as we imagined it and we're quite happy. The only issues I have with some of the work is the fit and finish. Roofing nails missing the joists weren't redone, so now there are nails hanging into my porch. The ramset nails they used to attach the base plate to the concrete pad had some kind of wax/rubber around them which wasn't completely removed prior to painting, so there are weird nubs sticking up on the base plate. Some of the screws on door moulding weren't puttied over. The biggest issue I had with them was communication and scheduling. Felipe forgot a few parts of the project and things got dropped a few times. It worked out because I was paying close attention, but I think he may just have too much going on so things will fall between the cracks. Scheduling was a regular issue. Our project took place right outside of our bedroom, so we wanted to know the night before if they would be there. It was about 50/50 whether they'd give us that heads up. They also broke an expensive high security lock and I was not reimbursed or discounted. On the scale of the project, it was a rounding error in cost, but it's the principle of the matter on that one."

"The work went great. This was the most positive experience I have ever had with a contractor. The quality of MountainSide's work and customer service was outstanding. When MountainSide evaluated my project, they took the time to listen to my concerns, discussed different options for completing the work, and gave me a detailed, written estimate. The work included removal of the existing window with its nail-fin frame; purchase and installation of the new vinyl window with its nail-fin frame; installation of moisture barrier, metal lath and skim coat; and repair of the stucco around the window. We obtained several quotes for the work and, although the quote from James was not the cheapest, decided to go with him on the basis of reviews posted on this site. The work done by James and his team was extremely professional and we are very happy with the new window. "Very high quality work.  The concrete trail is wide enough and level enough to easily ride on and harvest my fruit trees.  I have received numerous compliments about the quality of the cocrete handicapped ramp in front of the house.  His workers cleaned up after themselves, trimmed my trees, and made my yard look pretty.
Ramon is a very easy guy to work with and takes extra time to figure out what would work for you, like putting up wooden railings that don't get too hot instead of metal.  He is also very creative in coming up with solutions to unusual problems.  They do great indoor work and remodeling too.
Do - be explicit about your needs, what you want, and special requests.  Also make sure you are clear about when you need it done by.  Ask for a written estimate and discuss how the finalbill may be somewhat different so there are no unhappy surprises."
