"I was looking for someone to handle blueprints and engineering for a home in the Florida Keys. Having built homes before, I’m familiar with the process and already had some sketches with a few changes I wanted to make. I found Evolution Drafting online, and Kristine walked me through everything clearly. Lindsey was assigned to my project after a quick introduction and a follow up she was AMAZING to say the least! The initial drawings were excellent, and any changes I requested were completed within days. Compared to another project that took nearly a year, this was incredibly fast and detailed. My wife and I are very impressed. I highly recommend Evolution Drafting LLC—ask for Lindsey on your project. Truly top shelf!!"

"The job was for a covered patio on my existing cement slab in my backyard. He did great work on it, and in a timely matter too. He kept me up to date on the time it would take to do the job, and he would periodically check up on me w/ any questions or concerns I had. The work was done well, and wasn't rushed. He made sure I was satisfied completely, before he considered the job complete. The patio came out great, and I'm very happy with it. I'd hire him again."

Structural Engineering questions, answered by experts

In Las Cruces, small cracks in adobe or stucco that widen after rain, minor roof leaks following dust storms, or subtle floor sloping can all signal deeper foundation or soil movement issues. Early efflorescence on concrete and slight bowing in support beams often precede major repairs. Addressing these early with a structural inspection can prevent more extensive damage.

Helpful?

In Las Cruces, you can patch hairline cracks in stucco with a flexible sealant designed for desert climates and clear debris from scuppers before summer storms. Keep gutters and downspouts free of sediment to prevent water pooling near your foundation. If you notice doors misaligning after heavy rain or cracks expanding, document these changes and contact a structural engineer for a thorough assessment.

Helpful?

Before starting a structural project in Las Cruces, confirm all permits are secured and schedule required inspections early. Arrange for soil testing due to local clay expansion, and check if your property is in a flood-prone area. Plan construction outside of peak monsoon season and coordinate with utility companies to prevent service disruptions. Consulting experienced professionals ensures compliance with NM building codes.

Helpful?

In Las Cruces, if you notice new cracks forming in adobe walls after a freeze-thaw cycle, sagging rooflines after high winds, or doors sticking due to shifting foundations, these may signal underlying issues. Visible rust on support beams or uneven floors after monsoon rains also suggest prior work may not meet current structural or seismic standards. Prompt structural inspection is recommended.

Helpful?

For structural projects in Las Cruces, select concrete mixes with additives for expansive soils, weather-resistant steel for framing, and stainless steel fasteners to combat corrosion. Use high-reflectivity roofing membranes to handle intense sun, and closed-cell spray foam insulation to manage temperature swings. These materials help address soil movement, UV exposure, and wind, all common challenges in NM structural engineering.
