I have to say, though, that on balance, Laramee is not a good value. His work is very expensive, as befits someone with a great design sensibility and extensive knowledge of horticulture. But Laramee's company falls down on execution and customer service. For one thing, Laramee is involved primarily at the beginning. Once installation begins, he disappears, and his crew takes over. The quality of work and the time and expense depend on them. When they are good, things go well. When they are not, they don't. Moreover, Laramee does not return phone calls. You can leave multiple messages on his one phone line. His staff, including an office manager named Matt, never returns phone calls and never checks his email. If you call them and leave a message, they may get back to you within a week or they may never get back to you. With regard to the latest work, we told Laramee that we would do it in two stages. We were supposed to speak when the second stage was to begin. Instead, Matt was on the verge of scheduling the work for a day when we were not going to be at home, and for a sizeable fee that we had not agreed upon. I had to reach out to him to cancel the work before it was undertaken. Finally, Laramee's crew installed an irrigation system built by a company that has gone out of business. The irrigation system has malfunctioned on a couple of occasions, resulting in dead plants. When I've tried to schedule someone to come out and maintain the system, I have either not heard from Laramee's crew when promised, or they show up when no one's around (our gates are locked and we work for a living). This, despite repeated phone messages and emails saying: Our gates are locked. Call before you come over. Now, it's been three weeks, our plants are still dying and Laramee is nowhere to be found and no one is returning the voicemail messages. We're done. In the past I have gone to this nursery for the owner Bob's advice, which is wonderful, and the plants, which can be interesting. However, many are grown elsewhere and shipped in, and there is a no-return policy. Not good, especially given how over-priced the plants are! And the parking stinks!! There used to be a staffer named Colin who was great to talk to but he is gone now. Having said that, there are two immature staff members in their 40s there whose behavior is CONSISTENTLY rude and just downright appalling, and unfortunately one happens to be one of the owner's sons and the other looks like an extra from Mad Max, and is another son. That one is really arrogant! They both seem to think they can act and say whatever they want to a customer, no matter how obnoxious, and in any other company they would have been fired years ago--and indeed, with those attitudes, been hard pressed to find a job at all. It is because of them I will not go back . I feel bad for the rest of the staff also, having to work with these jerks. Better to keep on driving down the same road to much bigger Plants of the Southwest--a fantastic place with a great selection of locally grown native plants, nice staff, and a yummy restaurant well worth seeking out."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/nm/santa-fe/agua-fria-nursery-reviews-5122160.htm"},"position":2},{"@type":"ListItem","item":{"@type":"LocalBusiness","name":"SOUTHSCAPE LANDSCAPING","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressRegion":"NM","addressCountry":"US"},"review":{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Susan A."},"reviewBody":"In the beginning of the job, we were working with Derek and were very happy with all aspects of the job which was approx. 80% complete. Then Derek left the firm without informing us. His firm did not call to tell us that he had resigned, that he wouldn't be keeping his appointments with us (I was stood up for two days) and the name of his replacement. It was only because I called the company that I learned about Derek's departure. After Derek left, subsequent work has been substandard. When we call about problems, the responding supervisor seems to minimize the problems or recommend that we take steps to address it (spray pesticides, adjust nozzles, apply systemic fungicides & pesticides) rather than Southscape doing what's necessary to fix the problems). We have had problems with a)irrigation coverage -- either excessive or inadequate in spots, b) drainage --drains get clogged with mulch , c) plant failure -- a few plants that Southscape installed are either not thriving or dying, and d) incorrect placement of drip nozzles resulting in death of our own shrubs. Even though I have asked Southscape to replace the failing plants that they installed, as per their 1 year warranty, I've been told that it is unlikely that they will do so. Dan and Glenn came over and really listened to what we wanted. We view the area from both our deck and a room off the patio. As Glenn was walking around you could feel the creative wheels turning. He made sure the view was great from both directions. We were given three options with three price points and we are so glad we decided on the much larger pond with a waterfall and lighting. I am amazed at how quickly they worked and this laborious project was completed in just two days. There were huge tree roots that had to be removed and they had to work around some rocks. The first day they removed the old pond and plants, dug a huge hole by hand as there is no way to get any equipment into this spot, put the liner in place, the waterfall in place an overflow area set up, and got much of the rock in place. The second day they meticulously placed the rest of the rock so it is very stable to walk on anywhere, filled the pond, installed the lights, replaced the path that was there, and all the details that really cleaned it up and make it look great. They made shelves around the edges for plants, to either actually plant our water plants or add them in pots and it is perfect. The shelves are arranged for any larger plants to be at the ends and are bigger than I would have thought. Perfect. As gardeners, we will keep adding and rearranging indefinitely and have the space to do just that. We had no idea what a difference the lighting would make. It's difficult to tear ourselves away at night from watching the fish play. Who knew they were so active at night? There are several frogs now living close by and they, too, are fun to watch. This area that was so underused and boring is now the stunning focal point of our summer living room.

She incorporated stone we had on hand, saving us money. She listened to our tastes regarding plant appearance and habits regarding care, i.e., wanting plants that survive on their own as much possible. She took us on a nursery tour to solidify plant choices. I asked him to price it out and maybe there would be parts of it that we could do and he sent me around a $20,000 bid without the sidewalk. "I hired them to build a brick sidewalk with bricks that I had from a previous sidewalk. Overall the sidewalk looks good except instead of a gradual slope there is a low spot that puddles when it rains or the sprinklers are run. After agreeing on the additional bricks I knew I needed I purchased the additional bricks Then they told me I needed 21 more. These were never used and I still have them. They didn’t clean up the site well. There’s small piles of sand that were left."

LIC # 33557 Full service landscape company with more than 28 years in business. Horticulturist/owner. Over the past 30 years I have learned a lot. At New Mexico State University I was educated in Horticulture and Landscape Design. Under the Horticultural program we learned about Agronomy ( soils) , Entomology( insects) , Biology, Chemistry , Pathology ( diseases). Everthing that was needed to be a Professional. Sure I have my education but I've learned so much from my hands on experience. Many years ago when I started Summersweet Landscapes. Other landscapers would ask me. "Do you need a degree to do landscaping"? I answered " no you don't , but I do". I started Landscape Design when I was in high school. I was trained by a Horticulturist also from N.M.S.U. He taught us that the Horticultural field was a professional one. And that the industry should be respected as one. Professional. He had all students join Future Farmers of America. It was mandatory , inorder; to be enrolled in his class. We went through competition in design. In my last two years of high school competition I was on both District and State Landscape Design Championship team. I graduated with both high school diploma and two year vocational technical certificate in Horticulture. After high school I attended N.M.S.U. where I got my Bachelor in Science Degree in Agriculture. Thank you Eric and Carmela.
"We recently moved to NM and the yard at our home was neglected for a few years. The backyard needed to be cleaned up (including removing a few bushes and an old clothesline), a new irrigation system installed, and beds prepared for a variety of plants I want to install. Eric and his crew from Summersweet were excellent! I interviewed several landscapers and only Eric listened to what I wanted, offered his expert advice (his knowledge was gained thru both formal education and practical experience), and delivered what we agreed to have done! The Summersweet crew was hardworking and professional - it helped that I speak some Spanish. Carmela pleasantly and professionally handles all the behind the scenes logistics. Everything was done professionally and on time."

"Extremely happy with them!
Their office contacted us within minutes of us requesting a quote on a Friday afternoon. One of many things I loved is that they are Veteran owned and operated, and they offered a military discount. Zack was the electrician and arrived at my house around noon on Monday. He was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. He was able to diagnose and repair my problem within 1 hour. I would highly recommend VDV Electric and will definitely be using them again. It is hard to find honest people and from 1st contact and throughout the entire experience I felt comfortable and that they are trustworthy.
Thank you Zack."

FAQs for plant watering projects in La Cienga, NM
Landscapers typically charge $25 to $50 per person per hour, which equals around $50 to $100 per hour for a two-person crew. These rates can vary depending on your location, the size of staff needed for the job, and overall job type. For example, a larger crew will be needed for structural additions and hardscaping versus planting flowers.
When it comes to landscapers, licensing laws vary. Landscaping architects are required to be licensed in all 50 states, whereas traditional landscaping contractors are not typically required to hold a certification. You’ll likely be working with a landscaping contractor for most residential projects. If you are redesigning your whole yard or adding in hardscape features, you will work with a landscaping architect at some point during the project. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local landscaper guidelines.
As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:
The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check
Required to have applicable state and local licenses
Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review
Paying to advertise their services
Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi
Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.
Lawn irrigation is the process of getting water to your lawn, grass and all, for it to grow. There are five main types of lawn irrigation methods:
Manual irrigation puts you in charge of the flow of water. Using a sprinkler head on your hose is best to evenly distribute the water across your entire lawn. This doesn’t take much time but requires you to be physically outside holding the hose.
Above-ground sprinklers attach to your hose and rotate or oscillate around your lawn. Since these are above-ground, they’ll need to be moved when it’s time to mow, and depending on the size of your property, you might need to move it around your yard for full coverage.
In-ground sprinklers are flush with the ground when not in use but pop up above the ground level when it's time to water the lawn. Piping for these sprinklers is all found underground, and there are different types of sprinkler heads for different uses and lawn sizes.
Drip irrigation involves drip lines that are more efficient than sprinklers for more extensive lawns. This involves a lot of digging since they are installed underground, but it makes it easy for you to mow.
Rainwater collection and irrigation uses nature’s precipitation to water your lawn. This option might not be available in every area since semi-reliable rainfall is needed, though the barrels for this system can range from 15 gallons to 10,000 gallons or more.
The cost of a lawn sprinkler system is $2,550 for the average homeowner. However, this price can range from $350 to $5,000 or more, depending on the type of sprinkler system you install, the size of your yard, and the type of sprinkler heads you choose. For example, rotating or oscillating sprinkler heads are more expensive than stationary ones, making the cost for one sprinkler head $2.50 to $30 each. Likewise, a yard that is 1/4 of an acre in size averages a total average price of $2,460; however, a one-acre yard averages a cost of $9,840.
Landscaping costs around $3,500 but varies widely from $200 to $14,000. Factors that play a part in your final landscaping price tag include:
Location
Yard size
Project size
Materials
Land preparation
Type of landscaping
Considering so many factors, it’s not surprising that the overall costs can differ. A typical landscaping project is flower bed installation, which averages between $800 and $3,000. However, landscape lighting installation is a higher-end project, with a price tag of $2,000 to $6,000.
