"I was extremely happy with the work of Lorax Tree Service. Very hard working, diligent, and did exactly as he promised. Very easy to recommend this company. They totally removed 6 trees over 70' tall and pruned about a dozen orchard trees. Work was safely done and showed a tremendous amount of expertise!"

"No project was to big for Robert! I had total of 6 tall elm trees that Robert and his company was able to service , four that needed to be taken down and two that needed to be trimmed. All the trees were in bad shape with YEARS of growth and neglect, many hanging over my, my neighbors homes, power lines and street area. Robert mentioned that he does his work climbing and with ropes. It was amazing to watch, my neighbors enjoyed the free entertainment during the project. It was very obvious that Robert enjoyed his work. Was able to perform the service like a master surgeon, taking down each branch, limb, and trunk with the greatest of care and skill. Robert was my highest bidder for the job, however it was his professionalism that sold the job. He really cares for each tree, it's health and growth. Robert provided the necessary documents to assure me that he was able to handle the job in a safe and responsible manner. With good communication we were able to meet the needs of removing and providing some of the wood for personal use. My only concern is some of the larger trunk pieces will be brought down to manageable size . It was a pleasure to have Robert do this work. I will recommend him for any of your tree care. "D&R did a tremendous job of repairing my cracked and buckled drywall.  The quality of work was amazing and even brought his team out during the service to evaluate other work at my residence.  Their team was extremely professional, produced high quality results, and was extremely well priced.  This was by far my best experience on Angie's List and I highly recommend D&R to anyone who needs work done.

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

No, homeowners insurance typically does not cover the cost of removing a dead, sick, or rotting tree that is still standing. Insurance is designed to protect against sudden and unexpected accidents, whereas a tree dying or rotting over time is considered a maintenance issue. Coverage usually only applies after a tree has fallen and caused damage to your property.

If it’s your property, then you can plant a tree near power lines, but it’s not the best idea. Any vegetation that grows within 10 feet or so of power lines will fall under the responsibility of the utility company, and they may trim or remove it as necessary. If you do move forward with your plan, try to choose a smaller ornamental tree, plant it as far away from the power lines as you can, and keep it trimmed to avoid future problems.

The exact answer to this question depends on which region of the country you’re talking about, but according to various tree counts, some of the most common types of trees in the United States include red maple, Douglas fir, quaking aspen, loblolly pine, and sweetgum.

A general rule is that trees need 10 gallons of water for each inch of the tree’s diameter. For large trees, that can amount to approximately 160 gallons of water or more. Watering big trees to this extent can take quite a bit of time using a hose. For this reason, you may consider installing a soaker hose or sprinkler system to make the job easier.

Tree borers are difficult to control and remove once they make a home in your tree. However, with patience and determination, some methods can slow the damage or even eliminate the pests. But, once the damage is too much for the tree to handle, the only solution becomes removing it. Talk to a tree specialist early for the best chance at saving your tree.
