To get the highest appraisal value possible for your home, make any necessary repairs and updates prior to the appraisal. Some examples of tasks include updating landscaping to boost curb appeal, renovate older areas of the home, and consider staging your home. They should have property records on file, or can at least point you in the right direction of who to contact. In cases where an appraisal comes in lower than an offer price, sellers might opt to lower their asking price to meet the appraisal, especially if the market is slow, and replacing the offer with a higher one may take a long time.
