"Excellent work by Denise and his team. They painted my whole house and they did an awesome job. The quality of work done is amazing. The paint job is done with full attention to detail, usage of high quality paints, very good finish and clean work. They also took care of arranging and rearranging the furniture, cleaning after the painting, trash removal and they don’t cause any inconvenience while doing the work. In addition they did a good job in changing my deck floor. Denise gives good estimations and suggestions and sticks to the estimation and very good pricing. They are very reliable, come to work every day without delay, honest, hard working and loyal people. I highly recommend using their services."

"Very well. The work took 4.5 days and was very professionally done. John takes pride in his work and does an excellent job. He cleaned up after himself every day very thoroughly. I plan to have John do some exterior painting and additional wallpaper removal and painting in 2017."

"I purchased an Angie's List Deal for 8 hours of professional painter.  And that is exactly what I got.  Frank showed up on time, completed the task in under 8 hours and it looks BEAUTIFUL...  I will definitely be calling on Frank's Wallcovering  & Painting again.

"He is very professional. I would definitely recommend him. The only thing I can say is that he doesn't speak fluent English but we were still communicating very well. Everything was finished on time. He was always answering the phone when I had questions which is important for me because I've had people who would disappear. He never did that. He did a perfect job. There is nothing that I can complaint about, absolutely zero."

Wallpapering questions, answered by experts

Spring and fall are the best seasons to apply wallpaper because excessively hot or cold temperatures can cause issues with the paste used to attach the paper to the wall. A professional wallpaper hanger can help you decide if your home is too hot, cold, humid, or dry for the wallpaper to stick properly.

No, you don’t always have to remove old wallpaper before applying a new layer. However, you should pull off the existing wallpaper if it’s cracked, peeling, or in poor condition. We’d also recommend against putting wallpaper over textured or dark-colored wallpaper because the old layer may be visible through the new one. In addition, if you try to hang new wallpaper over vinyl-coated wallpaper, the adhesive might not stick properly.

In most cases, it is not recommended to wallpaper over existing wallpaper, as the success depends on the type of paper already on the wall. While you might be able to cover non-coated wallpaper, you should never apply new wallpaper over a vinyl-coated one, which is more common. Doing so can lead to poor adhesion, resulting in bubbles, imperfections, and peeling. It can also trap moisture, potentially causing hazardous mold growth between the layers.

Even if the existing wallpaper is suitable, experts recommend applying only one new layer. Adding multiple layers (more than two total) can cause significant adhesion problems, leading to warping and bubbling. For the best results, the recommended approach is to remove the old wallpaper and all paste residue before hanging the new paper. If you are unsure about your wallpaper type, consider consulting a professional.

When choosing materials for finishing basement walls, consider factors such as moisture resistance, durability, and fire resistance. Opt for materials specifically designed for basement environments, like moisture-resistant drywall or cement board. Insulation with vapor barriers can help regulate temperature and prevent condensation. Consider using mold-resistant paints or coatings.

Research and consult with experts to select materials that are suitable for your specific basement conditions and intended use. Prioritize quality and compatibility to achieve long-lasting and aesthetically pleasing results.

One of the biggest downsides to peel-and-stick wallpaper is that it doesn't last as long as traditional wallpaper. Its lifespan depends on several factors, including the quality of the paper, proper wall preparation and application, and the room's conditions. As a general rule, peel-and-stick wallpaper can last for at least five years, but this can vary significantly. Budget products may only last about 3 years, while higher-quality products can stay up for 7 years or more in ideal conditions. Factors that can shorten its lifespan include high humidity (such as in a bathroom), dirty walls, and low-quality paper. If used on flooring, expect it to last only 1 to 3 years unless sealed. However, the shorter lifespan can be seen as a positive, making it a great choice for people who enjoy switching up their interiors more frequently.
