"The carpet looks good. The installers did a good job. They also cut the bottom of some doors due to the carpet rubbing on the bottom of the door. This cost extra and was paid directly to the installers. Both Bogart Carpet and the installers were easy to work with. They kept commitments on scheduling."

"Overall the work was great.
The sales and carpet installation by Empire Carpet was both great deals. Empire gave us two rooms of carpeting for the price of one room in other places. And that was installed over padding. We were very satisfied with the carpet installation too. It went very smoothly. The crew was friendly and did everything as expected.

"I had a difficult time finding a hardwood flooring professional who would repair our old floor. Our 1930's home had a poorly finished addition where carpeting was used to conceal the hallway floor was extended with a section of unfinished plywood and the bedroom floor had a straight line across the middle of the room where the hardwood was added. I needed someone who could take up the old planks and re-install them in the typical staggered pattern and sand and refinish the hall, bedroom and stairs. I could only find 2 well rated companies who include "repair" in their description and called them both. Ricardo called back first, scheduled and performed a detailed written estimate a day before his competitor returned my call and determined my job was too small for him. I was able to schedule The work with Five Star Flooring within days of the estimate. The first day they were scheduled I waited patiently and called when they were an hour late and left a message. I grew concerned when another hour passed without returning my call, and checked for another number on the estimate and found Ricardo's cell number listed which he answered promptly and explained that ha had to deal with an urgent matter and needed to call several customers to reschedule and thought I had been called. We agreed to move the time, and his workers showed up with him the next day in their blue Five Star shirts and went to work. They could not have been more respectful and accommodating, and checked with me before applying finish to see if I needed access before closing off the area, completely sealed off the area to be sanded and thoroughly vacuumed the floors, walls trim, banisters, leaving me with little to do but remove the masking tape from the closet doors in the hallway. On the last day of the job, Ricardo came by to check on the job, and I asked him for advice on what I could do to repair the deep scratch in our master bedroom floor that was caused by dragging the other room's furniture in for the work. Ricardo called to his workers for some materials and buffed it out and applied a thin coat of finish right then! we were so relieved to not have to deal with that little souvenir of our mishap. The finished job is beautiful! I can't recommend them enough."

Carpet Stretching questions, answered by experts

The cost of carpet repair is $204 on average. The typical range for this project is between $135 and $280 but can increase to $1,000 for severe pet damage repair. The type of repair, along with the carpet material, will impact your total price tag.

The necessary type of carpet repair is a significant factor in the total price for this project. You can repair simple repairs, like tears and snags, for between $100 and $250. For more complex damage, like water or severe pet damage, prices can start at $300 and jump to $1,000 or more.

The correct method to fix bubbling carpet depends on the cause. If the bubbles are caused by moisture, drying out the carpet can help flatten it. Otherwise, a pro might need to restretch or reinstall the carpet to fix the issue.

Yes, you can revive carpet that’s flattened using household items like an ice cube and stiff brush, a damp cloth and an iron, baking soda and vinegar, and shaving cream. If you want to go all-out, visit a local home improvement store and buy a carpet rake, too. Depending on the state of your carpet, you may need to use more than one of these methods to see results. Keep in mind that you might need to repeat a reviving method more than once.

You can save money on labor costs by removing your old carpet before the professionals come in to install the new carpet. Just make sure to clear it with your contractor ahead of time. You might also be able to cut costs by buying carpet at certain times of year when it’s less expensive. These periods include late December to mid-January and late spring to early summer.

No, it works best under synthetic carpets in high-traffic or moisture-prone areas. Avoid using moisture barrier padding under natural fiber carpets like wool, which need air circulation. The barrier can trap the moisture against natural fibers and cause problems. Also, you can skip it in low-risk areas like upstairs guest bedrooms, where the extra protection often isn't worth the added cost.
