"York Fence is definitely a professional organization when it comes to customer service, installation and appearance. Their crew was prompt, organized and very methodical when it came to the installation itself. They cleaned up everything afterwards. Literally, there was nothing to be of concern about when this was over. More importantly, we achieved what we were looking for....privacy. I can't say enough good things about York Fence. Definitely a first class company who treats their customers right."

"It went very well! Juan is the owner and He came out to give me a price quote. He had examples of the product that he uses. He gave an excellent price and was ready to install the next weekend. Very professional. Fence looks amazing and well done. I would only recommend this company for fencing!"

"This is my second time with this tree company. For some reason didn't find them in Angie's list, but fortunately found their phone number in my phonebook (saved the last time). The estimate was a little bit cheaper comparing to others (I used 4 companies to get a truly transparent picture of what needs to be done and prevent upselling). Surprisingly to me, none of the companies tried to upsell; their recommendations were the same (up to some extend). At the end, decided to go with BJ's, mostly because of the prior positive experience. The work was done next business day after my call (they even offered same day services, but I was unable to accommodate). The work was done in less than 2 hours! Everything was cleaned after. I will definitely call BJ's next time when I need tree services. Highly recommend!"

Fencing questions, answered by experts

In Union, fencing work often transitions from basic chain-link or wood to more durable materials like composite or decorative metal as homes age. Homeowners may upgrade for better fence maintenance, privacy, or curb appeal. Over time, older fences are replaced to comply with updated local codes or to match new landscaping. Adjustments for property drainage or new outdoor features also become more common as needs change.

Helpful?

In Union, contractors often use modular fence designs and install wider gates to allow for future access or expansions, such as adding a shed or pool. Removable panels and adjustable posts make it easier to reconfigure fencing later. Maintaining proper setbacks and keeping utility easements clear ensures flexibility for landscaping changes or additional structures, supporting long-term property improvements and compliance with local fence installation guidelines.

Helpful?

In Union, straightforward fence installation on level ground with clear property lines may be completed in one visit. However, projects involving clay soil often need extra time for post setting and curing. Multiple sessions are common for larger properties, complex layouts, or when permits and inspections are required. Weather delays and the need to coordinate around existing landscaping or underground utilities can also extend the timeline.

Helpful?

In Union, placing mulch or soil directly against fence posts can trap moisture and speed up rot, especially with wood fencing. Allowing leaves and debris to collect at the base encourages pests and mold. Using string trimmers too close can nick posts, while frequent pressure washing can strip protective coatings. Regularly inspect for loose hardware, especially after NJ’s frequent storms and seasonal temperature swings.

Helpful?

In Union, fence installation can impact underground utilities, irrigation lines, and property drainage, especially with the region’s dense clay soil. Watch for changes like water pooling near your foundation, reduced plant health, or unexpected utility issues after installation. If fencing is near HVAC units or sump pump outlets, airflow and drainage could be affected. Consulting experienced fence installation professionals helps prevent these problems.
