"Corey and his crew from Proven Contracting were so professional, knowledgeable, and efficient. You hear horror stories about other contractors, but these guys were the absolute BEST and we would recommend them to anyone needing roof repairs or replacement. Corey's initial roof inspection included walking the roof and taking pictures of the trouble spots. He guided us through the entire process and answered all our questions. And Corey was present throughout the day the roof was replaced. We couldn't ask for better workmanship. We will be calling on Proven Contracting for future work as they also do windows, siding, and gutters. Five stars out of five stars!"

"We called Heartland Handyman Services for what we thought was just to paint 2 rooms. Javier showed us there was much more involved. With little to no effort at all, he showed us that the room's window was not seated and secure. The window sill came off with a little tug. Inside the wall were signs of water leaks. In the other room, the floor had been damaged and since it could not bear any weight, we could step through the floor. Heartland had to open up the outside siding, repair the exterior wall, reseal the siding, reseat the windows, insulate the walls, besides the original plan to paint the 2 rooms. He also had to reinforce the outer wall, repair the underflooring and install a new floor."

"Ernie did an awesome job! I had an issue where the siding was coming off the house. I had a few people come in and give estimates. Each one wanted to nail the bottom back in and leave the rest of it when the proper way to do it was to take everything down and put it back up which is exactly what Ernie and his crew did. I would use them again and recommend them for any roofing or siding project needed."

"Around 5 x 5 ft2 of our original ceiling tile within our basement just came collapsing down one day as it had been stapled directly to the wooden beam by the previous owners. A couple of handy men tried to fix it with little success. A decision was therefore made to replace the tiles with sheetrock. We decided to also replace the flooring at it was getting worn out as it was white linoleum. Several contractors inspected the site and provided us with quotations. Also got a specialized basement contractor recommended by Home Depot. Either they could only do the flooring or the sidewalls. Neither one of them wanted to do the ceiling. None of them could do eveything and their pricing was high. Saw this Flooring deal on Angie's list and dropped an email. Frasceso from ETC promptly arrived on a Saturday and patientlly listen to us and sent us a quotation the following day for the floowing and ceiling. As we were planning to do the ceiling and flooring we thought it would be perfect time to also get rid of the wallpaper on the side walls and renovate the entire basement. Edmilson the owner of the company arrived the following day and we discussed the entire project. He recommended to remove the sidewalls and fix new sheetrock too. He said he could do the entire project for us and we received a quotation from them. Edmilson using his preferred vendor also got us a good deal on a flooring, a $4.99 ft2 was obtained for $2.99, we compared the prices with other stores too.
Around 10 days were spent on the demolition of the ceiling tiles, removal of the side panels and linoleum. There was a wet bar which was also removed. This was followed by 10 days required to fix the sheetrock on the ceiling and sidewalls. After spackling and sanding a coat of paint was applied. We decided to paint the side wall with a light yellow paint and contrasted with an Autumn colored accent wall. The concrete flooring was cleaned and a coating of high quality sealant applied for water resistance. The flooring was completed in two days. A second coating of paint was applied and the light fixtures secured.
In five days the railing was built secured with spindles. The railings and steps were stained. The baseboards were fixed. A third coating of paint was applied and here we had our renovated basement. Edmilson and Fransesco spent an extra day to inspect the entire work and give the final touches to the entire project.
Edmilson and Fransesco were extremely curteous and respectful. As both my wife and I had to go to work, we left our house un-attended while they were at work and had no issues. At the end of the day the area was cleaned and evey attempt made to avoid dust reaching the other levels of the house. It was a pleasure getting this work done with this group. I have highly recommended them to my Friends and sure they will use them. A Job well done.

Siding questions, answered by experts

You may only need to repaint fiber cement siding every decade or so, but you should clean it every six to 12 months, depending on your local climate. First, wash with a garden hose or similar low-pressure device (not a high-pressure washer, which can damage the material) to remove dirt and any large debris. Then, gently wipe down the surface with a soft brush or cloth in a side-to-side motion, following the grain of the fiber cement.

Increasing home value and return on investment (ROI) are two different things and it’s important to differentiate between the two. While a kitchen remodel will surely raise the value of the house, it may only have an ROI of around 50%. Homeowners looking to raise the value of their home for sale will have to consider how much they will recoup by the monetary investment in projects, as the ROI percentages may be lower or higher than the added value on a dollar-for-dollar basis.

When moisture infiltrates your siding, it can result in deterioration and decay of the sheathing, cause structural damage to your foundation, and provides an ideal breeding ground for mold. Mold growth can lead to various health-related problems, such as itchy eyes, sneezing, allergies, and asthma. Mold and dampness commonly attract a wide range of insects, so if your siding has taken any kind of water damage, it could invite some unwelcome guests.

The recommended PSI (pounds per square inch) for cleaning vinyl siding can vary, so it's best to consult the manufacturer's guidelines. Generally, vinyl siding can handle high pressure, from 2,500 to 3,500 PSI. For comparison, more delicate materials like wood and aluminum siding should not face more than 1,500 PSI. To safely disperse the pressure on vinyl, use a tip with a wider spray span, such as a green (25-degree) or yellow (15-degree) nozzle. For routine cleaning of light dirt, a garden hose with a spray nozzle may be sufficient. Always exercise caution to avoid using excessive pressure that could damage the siding.

Many people remove aluminum siding to get to the wood underneath, allowing them to paint, stain, or finish the wood to give the home a brand-new aesthetic. With that in mind, you find plywood and related types of wood underneath aluminum siding, but you also run into fiber cement board, strand board, and a diverse array of other building materials. It depends on the original design of the house.
