"State wide stained our entire 4,100 sq. Ft. Cedar sided contemporary which has multiple rooflines and 30â high sections. Danâ s crew was neat and efficient, finishing earlier than projected. Dan was easy to work. Their pricing was excellent as well. I would use them for any painting project."

"We were provided an estimate that was way off base. We understood that there may be additional charges once the wallpaper was removed, but it ended up costing more than twice the original quote. We were overcharged for both labor and materials. Additionally, in the past when we have had painting and spackling done, the painter has hung plastic. They did not and after they left, the entire house was coated in dust."

"JM turned a beat up, large backyard deck into a gem. Easy to work with and can offer suggestions of different aspects of the project. They took great care with a wisteria we've had for years that has wrapped around a portion of the deck's railing. I would definitely hire this company again."

"Tom and Matt gave me an amazing quote for the painting of the entire house, the trim and they even painted our metal rails. Additionally they power washed the house and stairs and concrete around the house making the house look amazing! They breathed life back into this old home we just purchased. They are very friendly, hard workers, and trustworthy. I will be hiring them again for a few more house projects!"

Customers say: True professional

"Tony & his crews have always done a great job for me. I've been using their services for at least 15 years now - everything from exterior painting, replacing siding, building new entrance to my deck, etc. Tony responds quickly, he shows up when he says he will, he does what he says he's going to do. I have found his pricing consistent with the high quality of his work. His crews are polite, work hard & always clean-up at the end of each working day. Couldn't be happier."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

No, you don't need to stain Ipe decking, although you can if you want to change the color. You will, however, need to apply a UV coating if you don't want the natural color to fade. Speak to a deck staining specialist near you to discuss the best options if you want to stain your decking. And remember that you’ll need to seal your Ipe wood deck annually to protect it from scratches and Mother Nature.

Yes, it is generally a very good idea to seal your deck after pressure washing. Power washing removes not only dirt and debris but also a thin layer of wood, leaving the surface exposed and more susceptible to weathering. Sealing is almost always needed after this process. After a general cleaning, sealing isn't automatically necessary if the existing sealant is still intact. You can test the surface by placing a few drops of water on it. If the water beads up, the sealant is working. If it soaks into the wood, it's time to apply a new sealant. If it has been a few years, it's wise to remove the old sealant, wash the deck, and reseal for maximum protection.

Whether to brush or roll stain on wood depends on the project and your preference. Brushing is ideal for smaller, intricate areas and offers more control over the application, ensuring thorough coverage and penetration into the wood's grain.

Conversely, rolling is efficient for more extensive, flat surfaces and can save time. However, it is not always the best fit for textured or uneven wood. Some projects may benefit from combining both methods, using a brush for detail work and a roller for broader areas. Ultimately, the choice between brushing and rolling depends on the specific requirements of your staining project.

Limewash and whitewash are two techniques used to give brick a light, matte finish, but they differ in composition, application, and permanence. The best choice depends on your aesthetic goals and the specific surface.

Composition

  • Limewash: A natural and environmentally friendly option made from limestone, water, and sometimes pigments. It is breathable and soaks into porous surfaces like brick.

  • Whitewash: Traditionally made from lime, water, chalk, and binders, but a similar look can be achieved with watered-down white paint. It is paint-based and sits on top of the surface.

Appearance and Finish

  • Limewash: Provides a natural, textured appearance that allows the brick's character to show through. It offers a more traditional finish.

  • Whitewash: Creates a softer, more opaque finish, often used for a rustic or shabby-chic style.

Application and Permanence

  • Limewash: Is semi-permanent and can be removed, making it a good choice if you might want to change the look in the future. It requires more skill to apply and cannot be used on previously painted brick.

  • Whitewash: Is a more permanent solution. It is more forgiving to apply and can be used on painted brick. However, because it sits on the surface, it can trap moisture.

Ultimately, if you want a breathable, natural, and reversible finish for unpainted brick, limewash is a great option. If you need a more permanent, opaque coating that can be applied over painted surfaces, whitewash is the better choice. Whitewashing may also be more economical, costing approximately $1.40 to $4.20 per square foot.

Yes, pressure-treated wood can occasionally turn green due to certain preservatives, such as copper-based chemicals, used during the treatment process. These chemicals react with the wood, creating a greenish tint. The good news? It's temporary, and the color will fade over time. Staining or painting can also help hide any unwanted hues.
