Discount not given due to poor work. This is an old deck with bad deck boards and not built correctly. Can only do so much with it. I sure did pay attention to detail. What Carol is complaining about is that the small legs under the railing had a very small amount of stain on them. This was due to the fact that the bottom rail of the railing was installed way to low so that you could not get a paint brush under it correctly and not get stain on the leg. There were only a few spots this happened, and I offered to fix this small issue. Just get a very small artist brush and touchup a few spots. Carol just wanted a nice discount not the paint touchup. You ask for discounts before you hire the contractor not after the job is completed and completed correctly. As for the receipts I do not give the original receipts for materials to my customers. I keep them for my records. If they want a copy, I would be more than happy to make a copy of them. As for the screws that is the nature of pine. This happens often, especially on older dried out decks. The homeowner also used a paint stripper on the deck which also helped dry out the deck. No damage to the boards. If there were any cigarette buts on the ground, they were not mine. When I clean up after the job, I clean the area and remove all building materials. If you were in the military, then you know what I mean by field striping the cigarette buts. All filters go into my pocket, and I throw them away at the end of the day. Confrontational - I was able to talk with Carol who is the homeowner and who hired me in a very professional manor. There were a few confrontational words spoken between her boyfriend and myself, After he stuck his nose into the discussion. He should have stayed out of it. He is not the owner of the property and did not hire me. Carol and I were doing ok without his interference."
