"Pat did a great job. We needed our deck rebuilt and he exceeded our expectations. He quoted a fair price , showed up on time, and his entire crew were very professional. Our deck looks better than when it was new. He explained everything that needed to be done and gave us several options. I would highly recommend him for any home repair project."

"Aztek Construction came highly recommended and they did not disappoint. In fact I would say they exceeded my expectation. Pat Bowen was great to work with, very personable and friendly. The 2 man crew, Greg and Chris, was awesome as well. Very informative and knowledgeable. On top of their professionalism and excellent work and work ethic, we got along really well which is very important to me. Men of character and of their word. I highly recommend them for structural repair."

"I cannot express enough gratitude for Chris, Jesse, Phil, and the exceptional team at Home Technicians LLC. Their professionalism, attention to detail, and unwavering commitment transformed my home renovation experience into an absolute delight. After the loss of my husband, I embarked on the daunting task of renovating our home. Home Technicians LLC emerged as the clear choice after an exhaustive search. From the moment we connected through Angi, I knew I had found the perfect partner for my project. Chris, the owner and project manager, displayed unparalleled communication skills throughout the 8+ week basement renovation. Jesse and Phil, part of the dedicated team, were not only a joy to work with but also demonstrated utmost respect for my home. Their punctuality was impeccable, with Phil arriving promptly at 8 am every weekday. The workspace remained immaculate, and they went above and beyond to ensure minimal disruption to the rest of the house. Despite unforeseen setbacks, including my illness midway through the project, Home Technicians LLC remained understanding and accommodating. They navigated through the challenges with grace, maintaining a commitment to quality and timeliness. The subcontractors enlisted for plumbing and electrical work executed their tasks flawlessly, further exemplifying the excellence synonymous with Home Technicians LLC. I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the exceptional service provided by this remarkable company. Without hesitation, I eagerly anticipate partnering with them again for future projects. To anyone seeking top-tier home renovation services, I wholeheartedly recommend Home Technicians LLC. Trust me, you will not be disappointed!"

"Tom did several projects for us. He installed a storm door, repaired a screen door, repaired and painted exterior woodwork, and installed a mailbox, flagpole holder, and ring doorbell.. Interior work included replacing basement ceiling tiles. Tom is a skilled craftsman who takes pride in his work. He provides very good customer service which goes above and beyond. He picked-up and delivered the storm door we had ordered. He is receptive and accommodating to customer input and strives to meet all customer expectations."

Floor joists provide support and stability to the flooring installed above them, whether it be hardwood, tile, or carpet. They’re essentially horizontal beams that hold up the subfloor and everything that lies on top of it. Floor joists also help evenly distribute weight across their structure so that it’s shared between walls, beams, and your foundation.

There are two ways you can cut trim for doorways: with a miter saw or a table saw. Mitered joints need a 45-degree angle. If you’re unfamiliar with a miter saw, you might want to consider buying extra trim pieces or choosing butted joints instead. One wrong cut, and you’ll need to power up the saw again with a new piece.

Butted joints—also called shaker style—don’t need a 45-degree angle. Instead, your side pieces attach perpendicularly to the header trim and only require a straight cut.

On average, the cost to hire a carpenter ranges from about $75 to $100 per hour, depending on the type of carpentry, location, size of the job, and skill level of the carpenter. Get quotes from at least three carpenters in your area to determine the best price for your specific project.

Wooden soffits, when properly cared for, can last between 10 and 25 years, depending on the type of wood and the climate you live in. Certain wood types will last longer than others, and you might want to consider the cost of replacing soffits when you break down the total project cost. While an initially higher-priced material might seem counterintuitive, it can make more financial sense if you don’t plan on moving.

No, you do not usually tip a carpenter for their work. However, if you’ve been very happy with the level of service and quality of work, a 10% to 20% tip would likely be accepted with thanks. If you’re not sure, it can help to discuss the carpenter’s policy or preference for tipping before beginning the project.
