"Harvey and his team did a great job, everything looks great now and is properly installed. They were on time and completed on time and cleaned up after themselves. Harvey fixed work that was very badly done by another contractor."

"Erick from wilber's painting did an excellent job. Their estimate was very reasonable relative to other paint contractors, and they were quick, efficient and did a fabulous job. They asked me repeatedly for feedback about any questions or concerns I had during the painting process. I would definitely hire them again if I ever need an exterior paint job.."

"TNN managed our new construction and land development project from scratch. Tim caught MANY errors by the Engineer and Architect before they could become a problem. He made many great suggestions to elevate our original plans. Work quality is great and they take pride in everything they do. Nick did an amazing job on our trapezoid windows and carpentry work. We highly reccommed TNN and will continue to use them for the next phase of our project (garage) We would be happy to provide a reference and even show the work they completed for our project. "We are over the moon with respect to the transformation that All Around Renovation (Michael ) and his team did to our house. We have worked with Michael for 2 years now with year 1 for Bathroom and year 2 for revamping of the kitchen and foyer, and office floors, front door, front patio poles . All Round are professionals who show up on time every day . Mike makes sure the time the permit is filed to the last inspection is done (passed without issues) . Everything is listed in the contract so there is no confusion on what was agreed upon. Mike makes sure that he stands by his team and his work. If something is not right by his standard, he will make sure his team corrects it. The end product definitely has the WOW factor."

"I met with Mark once to review what I wanted in my new garage, doors/windows/electric, etc. The second meeting he had my plans with a virtual rendition. I made one or two minor changes and got my plans on my third visit. After I selected my contractor and the Town needed an additional calculation Mark turned it around in 24 hours and I was on my way to getting my building permit. The contractor didn't have any problems reviewing the plans. He felt everything was in order. I don't anticipate any problems with construction related to the plans. Mark was easy to work, he was thorough, he made suggestions. Mark turned all this around for me very quickly both times. Back in Jan/Feb when we first met and I got the plans, and then again in May when the Town required some additional information. No extra charge. Thanks, Mark!"

"Amazing experience! Matt is by far the best contractor that we have ever had the pleasure to work with during renovations at our home. We have renovated our home from top to bottom over the past 25yrs that we have lived here. When we did the renovation of our kitchen, we had issues with the cabinet supplier, and Matt was our advocate and brought the supplier in-line, and worked on our behalf, above and beyond his responsibilities as a contractor. Matt’s attention to detail, is impeccable and his desire to satisfy and impress is beyond description. We have recommended Matt to other friends for their projects and his consistency of quality, and performance is well documented. We highly, highly recommend Matt. If you do chose to have Matt work on your project, you will be beyond satisfied, and will have also found yourself a new friend."

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Learning how to frame a house includes picking the right lumber for the job. Most people will want to pick pine, spruce, or fir for the framing. These types of lumber are affordable and produce sturdy framing for structures. Look for kiln-dried lumber to reduce the risk of shrinkage or insect damage after installation. As part of what’s included in framing a house when you hire a professional, the contractor should order the lumber, so you don’t have to worry about finding the right lumber.

The best way to calculate framing costs is by basing your costs on the square footage of your home. On average, framing your home could cost anywhere between $7 and $16 per square foot.

To ensure you don’t go over budget, base your estimates on the higher end of the price range. If you know you’re going to use high-end materials or require a custom or complex build, you might even want to tack on an additional 5% of your budget.

A cross brace for a fence gate should stretch from the top corner of the gate’s hinge side to the bottom corner of its latch side at a 45-degree angle to the bottom of the gate. This positioning distributes the bulk of the gate’s weight to the base of the post, taking pressure off the top hinge.

Building a barndominium means converting a barn into a house. Barndominiums are becoming popular as spacious and stylish alternatives to typical housing structures. Old barns that become houses traditionally consist of wooden construction. However, newer structures, such as pole barns, often contain metal exteriors and roofs. Converting a metal outbuilding into a house presents an excellent opportunity to create a barndominium from metal.

Baseboards don’t have to be nailed into studs. However, nailing them into studs adds to their stability. When studs aren’t available, you can secure them with drywall nails directly into the drywall and adhesive. Always aim to nail into studs, especially in high-traffic or impact-prone areas.
