"I highly recommend First Class Electric. I called this morning and by 10 am Joey the technician was calling me confirming he was on his way. The operator who made the appointment was very friendly and helpful. The technician Joey was very knowledgeable and friendly. He is an asset to your company! He understood what needed to be done and explained his plan. He made sure I was satisfied and answered every question. I will definitely use this company again but I want Joey to be the technician. Thank You!!!"

"The Technician arrived on time. He was pleasant and had great customer service. He installed a new kitchen fan unit. Due to a slight flaw in the new unit the installation took a bit longer than expected but he kept me informed every step of the way. The price was very reasonable. I would definitely call them again if I need electrical work."

Customers say: Quick response

"This was my first Tesla (Model Y) and needed to install the wall connector in my garage. That required running wires from my electric panel in the basement to my garage. In addition I wanted to future-proof to accommodate a second electric car (in future). Ryan was absolutely fantastic from very start to finish. He clearly understood my needs, suggested most appropriate solution/plan and executed the plan to perfection in a timely manner. Quality work at reasonable price. Ryan is a true professional who is quick to respond and a good person that you can trust. I highly recommend Ryan and can vouch for his work."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Home power is measured in kilowatt-hours, commonly expressed as kWh. The average home uses between 800 and 1,000 kWh per month. Peak usage (and highest bills) occurs in the middle of summer and the depths of winter. Keeping on top of your usage during these crucial months will lower your annual average usage considerably.

The dials on an electrical meter simply represent the number of kWh you have used since it was installed. In a five-dial setup, the left-most dial represents tens of thousands of kWh, while the next dial to the right represents thousands of kWh. The following dials going to the right represent hundreds, tens, and ones.

There are a few signs of a faulty or failing dimmer switch. This includes your dimmer overheating or feeling warm to the touch, buzzing or clicking noises coming from the dimmer, your dimmer failing to properly dim the lights, and flickering lights. That said, these signs could signal other electrical issues. You’ll need a pro to figure out if your dimmer is the source.

There are a few reasons your lights may be on, but the rest of your electrical outlets and appliances are not working. The first is that while one circuit blew out, the lights may be on another circuit than your other electrical fixtures. Alternatively, your powerless appliances may be plugged into a GFCI outlet that was tripped and needs to be reset. If these issues aren’t responsible for the problem, you may have dead outlets or a wiring issue. Either way, you should contact an electrician to identify and fix the issue.

A two-way switch is also called a single-pole or single-throw switch. These switches only have an on-and-off function and only control a single light or series of lights wired together. A three-way switch has no “on” or "off” position and works with a second switch in the circuit to control a single light or light series from two locations.
