"We found Nick in Angie’s list while looking for someone to remodel our upstairs bathroom. He came to give us a free quote and gave us many good suggestions and how to go forward with the job. He did not only do the work in a neat and professional manner but he also helped us with the overall design of the job. We were so happy with the way it came out that we are going to use NIck to remodel our downstairs bathroom as well. Overall he is very professional and great quality work at a fair price."

"I recently had my old, worn-out bathtub refinished by Supreme Bath Refinishing, and the results were nothing short of remarkable. The team was punctual, professional, and incredibly skilled. What really impressed me was how they transformed my tub to look brand new—gleaming, smooth, and flawless. The attention to detail and quality of craftsmanship were top-notch. They kept the work area clean and completed the project exactly on schedule, with no hidden surprises. It's clear they take great pride in their work, and it shows. If you're considering giving your bathroom a facelift without the high cost of replacement, I highly recommend Supreme Bath Refinishing. They exceeded my expectations and gave my bathroom a fresh new life."

"Hired Built-Well to Re-do our kitchen and baths. Keith brought in his kitchen designer who was a pleasure to work with. She also re-designed our two full baths for us. Everything was great! Keith was a great communicator and kept the job moving along. He suggested plumbing supply places for us where we received a great discount compared to other places. We would definitely hire Built-Well again."

"Sina and his team at BAS construction are top notch. From the initial meeting Sina had a ton of creative ideas that helped us build the vision we wanted for our house. We used them for our master bathroom, laundry room relocation and mudroom remodel. They handled everything to do with the permits which was extremely convenient for us but also if we ran into any issues they always were right there with solutions and suggestions. Remodeling is expensive, there really is no two ways about that, but we had limited surprises that came up and Sina was always very transparent about everything with us. He and his team show up and do an amazing job. We couldn’t be happier with the work that was done and would highly recommend them for your next remodel."

Kitchen and Bathroom Remodel questions, answered by experts

One of the most crucial parts of finding a reliable bathroom remodeler is asking for customer references. Since bathroom remodeling is a major home project, other homeowners will have a strong opinion one way or the other about the quality of the work and professionalism of the contractor. Ask any bathroom remodeler for a list of references, and contact previous customers to ask for their opinion and photo results. You can also look for online reviews and complaints filed with the Better Business Bureau.

Completing a full standard bathroom remodel offers the best value, with an average return on investment (ROI) of 70%. However, you don't need a full remodel to make an impact. To maximize value, focus on key components like flooring, the tub and shower, vanity, and cabinets. High-value upgrades include installing a walk-in shower, resurfacing a tub, retiling, or expanding the shower. For more budget-friendly options that still increase value, consider repainting with a light, neutral color, or updating the mirror and light fixtures. It's also crucial to address any necessary repairs, such as leaks, mold, or cracked tiles, as buyers will notice these issues. Avoid flashy upgrades like bathtub jets or steam showers, which don't add as much value.

When deciding what to renovate first when remodeling a house on a budget, think about your home’s most pressing need. If you have an old kitchen that isn’t functional, you may want to start there. If you need extra living space for your growing family immediately, consider remodeling the basement first. Learning how to prioritize home improvement projects can help you stick to your budget while making improvements that give you the biggest immediate benefit.

Adding a bedroom or a second bathroom typically has the biggest positive effect on a home's value. These additions can increase your home's square footage and move it into a new category (e.g., from a two-bedroom to a three-bedroom), which is highly attractive to many families looking to upsize. On a larger scale, adding a second floor can also significantly increase a home's value by creating new possibilities for living and storage space. However, there is an upper limit where adding more bedrooms, such as in a nine-bedroom home, may not proportionally increase value.

The decision between wainscoting and shiplap for your bathroom will depend on the end result you’re looking for. Shiplap covers the entire wall and can be used on ceilings. Wainscoting is installed on the lower third of the wall and acts as an accent. One major consideration is that shiplap has rabbets that create space between the boards where moisture and dust can hide. Since bathrooms are a high-moisture environment, you may want to opt for wainscotting.
