"First of all, Jimmy explained in detail what needed to be done, gave me a price and then he installed a new sump pump, check valve and piping in the basement and his helper replaced the piping under my kitchen sink and also in the basement. Jimmy gave me warranties for both jobs. They cleaned up after themselves which was great. Jimmy had previously worked for me a few years ago and I would use him again."

"Great Work! Hello. I had a French Drain installed. Water was literally sitting in my walls. The Team came over On Time. They covered spaces to keep dust from accumulating on my personal items and worked diligently to get the job done. The clean up was magnificent. With this kind of work there are rocks, dirt and concrete coming and going. You would never know they were there upon completion. I had mold that had been treated prior to this work and Mike, the owner, went above and beyond to make sure that it was taken care of. Lastly and most importantly, it's been raining for the past week and a half and I see no watery walls. I hear the new sump pump they installed doing its work. I'm very pleased with my new French Drain. Highly recommend. Thank you Mike and your Team!"

"Needed leaky water valve repaired and sewer system unclogged. Came within 45 minutes of my desperate phone call. Installed new valve and new copper piping. Could not flush clog from inside, so came next day and dug 7' hole in front garden to remove the clog. Also installed vertical pipe to access any future sewer problems. Work crew had to dig out two big bushes to access the old sewer pipe at my home's foundation but replanted them along with any tulip bulbs they displaced. Truely considerate of my early spring garden! Courteous, mindful of property, work done in a timely fashion at a fair price. Explained each step in the process and why it was needful. Very pleased with 'Moose' and his work team."

"Not only are they knowledgable and professional, but for matters of sewer line 'issues', all the Pipe Works' techs we've had are THE BEST. Quick to the scene. Informative on the options. Understanding of the 'nature' of the problem too. It's not often you can say this about professionals in any field let alone plumbing experts dealing with sewer lines.... these guys are compassionate. THE CALL to keep matters of 'your household business' flowing!"

"I called their office and an office worker answered, took notes, and said someone would be in touch once they returned to the office. I received a follow-up call a couple hours later and was told they could be at my home in about a half hour, which was spot-on accurate. Two people arrived, which seemed to be one actual employee and his son serving as observer/assistant. The goal was to figure out why I was getting a sewage smell in my home coming from the washer/dryer utility closet. The plumber (Lem?) was very thorough in working with me to figure out the issue, first checking the main sewer line for clogs, and gradually narrowing it down to a drain pipe underneath that the washing machine that had been connected to my old washer, but had no way to connect to the new one, and so the trap in it had dried out completely. The two of them moved disconnected and moved the washing machine, filled the trap, and re-connected everything. It has been about a week and a half since then, and the smell has not returned, so it seems that did the trick. Overall, I was very satisfied with the work. Aside from what I just described, the plumber also gave me advice on a few other questions I had about my kitchen faucet and sink drains, and advised that I could have a rubber cap put on the drain we filled to prevent the problem from recurring (I declined on this visit in case that turned out to not be the actual issue). The price was also very reasonable for the service call and thorough investigation done. My only negative mark is that - with it being a rainy day and the plumber needing to check the main sewer line from a pipe on the lawn - the lack of shoe coverings meant they tracked water and mud along the path from my front door to the utility closet which I had to clean up later. I am definitely keeping them in mind, though, for plumbing work I am planning on having done later this year."

"The previous owner of our property used his French drain installation as a selling point, but shortly after we moved in we found water in the basement after a storm. It turned out that the "French drains" were a trench at the edges of the basement and a sump pump. The drains were not piped to the sump pump. We had Arid install real French drains with pipe to the sump pump well. Thus was in 2005 and we have not had any water in the basement since. Pat explained the job well and his team performed it quickly. They cleaned up well afterwards. The pump finally gave out last night (after almost 12 years). Arid is going to install new one on Friday."

Drain Pipe Installation questions, answered by experts

That pungent rotten egg smell coming from your drain is likely the buildup of biofilm—hair, skin, and soap scum that turns into a black sticky mess. In this case, pouring down near-boiling water, baking soda, and white vinegar will remove the smell. Keep in mind that a rotten egg smell is occasionally a sign of larger sewage line clogs and other related issues.

When you put baking soda and vinegar down the drain, they chemically react and help break down clogs. It’s not going to work for every type of clog, however. For example, it’s not the best way to get rid of grease buildup. For grease, you should try boiling water and white vinegar instead.

A saturated leach field can result from various underlying issues, so it's best to call a professional septic company to diagnose and treat the problem. Depending on the cause of the saturation, potential fixes include pumping out a full septic tank, adding more bacteria to the tank, or regrading the soil to fix low spots. It may also be necessary to reroute rainwater and runoff away from the leach field using gutters, downspouts, and extenders. Once the primary issue is resolved, planting specific types of vegetation over the area can help absorb excess water. In more severe cases, you might need to install a larger septic tank or replace the leach field entirely.

There are a few ways to unclog a toilet without a plunger. Break up the clog with homemade solutions containing soap, vinegar, and baking soda, or simply let hot water spend some time in the drain. You can also use a two-liter soda bottle filled with water to push pressurized water into the pipe to dislodge the debris (see the steps above).

You can drain a hot tub very quickly by using a submersible pump rather than the hose-sized drain at the bottom exterior of the tub. A pump can move up to 30 gallons per minute, draining your hot tub in no time. Using the regular drain can take up to two hours.
