"I had so very much to move. I did not really know how to pack and would not have been able to pack all my stuff as I had agreed, without the moving men's assistance. It was a long snowy day. The movers were professional and delivered my belongings in excellent condition. I did tip the men and really wished I could have given each man twice what I gave. I highly recommend this moving company."

"Capital City Movers did an excellent job moving my furniture to a new apartment. Brandon, the relocation consultant, was very courteous and gave me the best price of all the movers I met with. On the day of the move, the team was punctual. They packed all my items carefully and then set the new apartment up perfectly. I plan to use them again for future moves."

"I would recommend Mahwah Movers. This was the second time using them when I moved. When I moving into a co-op, it was all last minute and Mike made room for me so we could move by the end of the month. June is a very busy for moving. I was very appreciative and was so relieved that he was able to help me. I later called him up in July as I found two pieces of furniture that I had purchased. I called Mike last minute and told him the pieces of furniture had to be picked up in a few days as the sellers were moving. I was a nervous wreck, but again Mike came through for me. His workers are professional and very pleased with everything they did. I would recommend them to my friends and family!"

"It's not a good experience because I am missing my Apple Watch. I bought an Apple Watch and I can't find it and they don't know. This is not good. I also had a tv stand and the bottom broke and it caused imbalance of the tv. I don't want to accuse, but I still can't find my watch. I didn't notice my watch missing and the tv stand broke until a month later. It would be hard for me to accuse, so I just left it alone. I thought that the whole move could be done in 5 hours and it took them 6. Now, I was moving from apartment to apartment, ground floor to ground floor. I thought it would be quicker. I remember we took a break and I got them food to eat. That wasted maybe a half hour time. It took another additional hour. I ended up paying another $100 and on top of that he was asking me if I can give everyone a tip. What I did was give everyone a tip and additional $100 for the extra hour and I gave them food to eat. I paid for their lunch and gave them a tip. They did hard work. I even helped them move some furniture myself. It wasn't like I was watching them. I was helping. I think because of the speed they were doing it, it shouldn't be 6 hours. They tell people to pay for their lunch and then to tip them. It was a $400 watch and I think about it everyday. Maybe it's not their fault but I know that I was missing it after we moved. It was my fault that I put it in a place that they were doing work. I don't want to accuse. I don't know what really happened."

"Once again McAvey Moving Company did an awesome job from start to finish. I used them twice in 3 years and I will be using them again at the end of the month. The quote from Brian was exactly what I paid.....No hidden costs!! The moving crew was the best. It was a comfort to know my cherished belongings were in good hands"

Piano Moving questions, answered by experts

No, not tipping movers isn’t considered rude. Tipping is optional, not expected. There are plenty of alternative ways to show your appreciation without tipping.

You can calculate the cost of moving by evaluating your home size, the weight of your belongings, distance, and the method of moving. You’ll also want to account for moving company fees, cost of supplies, gas prices, storage fees, insurance, and more. To get the most accurate estimate for your upcoming move, get price quotes from several moving companies in your area.

The best ways to prepare for movers include decluttering and properly labeling boxes. Decluttering lessens the workload and ensures you are not bringing unwanted items into your new home. Labeling boxes lets movers know which rooms they belong in, reducing confusion when it's time to unpack.

Gym equipment can be heavy, so it’s best to transport it using a furniture dolly. When dealing with treadmills, weight machines, or other bulky items, hiring professional movers or roping in some friends and renting a moving van makes sense.

Yes, you can very carefully lay down a grandfather clock to move it, but it requires a bit of prep work. Remember, all of your clock's components and mechanisms are delicate, and shifting them can cause serious damage. Before laying it down, you will need to remove these pieces, plus the weights and the pendulum.
