You were very respectful of my house, thorough and explains to me what you were doing and helping me understand what you’re trying to accomplish. I think you worked above and beyond. "My experience with air experts for the installation of a new HVAC unit and hot water heater was nothing short of superb. The team of technicians that arrived were professional, clean cut and the hardest working young men I have ever seen, all of them. They worked from 9am until after 10pm. Todd, the lead tech, Dennis, Iilia, and Acold were tireless on the installation. They were obviously dedicated employees that the company should be proud of. The installation of the HVAC was difficult as it was in a crawl space. I couldn't be more pleased! The we're contracted through Lowe's and I found David Page, the sales rep, to be professional and responsive to my initial concerns."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

On average, replacing an AC compressor costs between $800 and $2,300, but it could cost as much as $2,800. There are a few factors that impact the price of a compressor replacement, including the type and size of the compressor, as well as the type of HVAC system and local labor rates.

Yes, ventless portable air conditioners exist, and not all standard portable air conditioners must be vented through a window.

Ventless portable units, often called evaporative coolers, do not have exhaust hoses. They use a water reservoir and a cooling pad to add moisture to the air, making it feel cooler. These units work best in dry climates because humid areas cannot absorb much additional moisture.

For standard portable air conditioners that do require venting, a window is not the only option; they can also be vented through a door, wall, or ceiling. However, it is essential to vent these units properly. Running a standard portable AC without venting it is counterproductive because it needs to expel heat to cool the room. Failing to do so will only increase the room's temperature.

Yes, running your air conditioning unit too cold can cause condensation in the air ducts and built up moisture on the air filter, resulting in a breeding ground for mold and mildew. Mold and mildew growth can irritate those with respiratory issues, so it’s best to keep your AC running at a normal temperature.

A new HVAC system combines components to control indoor temperature and air quality. Features include a furnace or heat pump and an air conditioner or evaporator coil, depending on the climate requirements. It also involves a network of ductwork for air distribution, a thermostat for temperature regulation, and electrical connections. Air purifiers or humidifiers can be integrated to improve indoor air quality.

To reset your air conditioner, start by turning it off at the thermostat. Then, shut off power to the AC system at the circuit breaker. Some units have a dedicated "reset" button; if yours does, press and hold it for three to five seconds. If your air conditioner doesn't have a reset button, or if you are resetting it after a power outage, leave the circuit breaker off for at least 30 minutes to allow the system to reset itself. Afterward, turn the power back on at the breaker, turn on the AC from the thermostat, and set it to "cool" to test the system.
