"They came on time, explained what was to be done (I had met with their arborist prior to this -- so it was confirmation of the excavation, removal and planting), they worked very hard, took care to protect my lawn, cleaned everything up on my property and around the house -- all in record time. By 2:30 pm, I had five large trees that gave me the privacy and beauty I had been dreaming of in my backyard. The next day I put in plantings and it looks like everything has been there for years. It was one of the few projects around my house that turned out better than I even imagined. We had uses Friendly Tree for trimming and removal of trees -- now that I know they plant trees as well, they will be my go to resource for all my tree needs."

Customers say: True professional

"These guys are awesome. They showed up as scheduled despite an intense thunder/lightning storm; they waited until there was no more lightning danger and worked in the rain until dark to remove two huge trees next to my house. They returned with the stump grinder early the next morning to eliminate the stumps, remove the large trunks from the previous day, prune a number of other trees, chip the smaller limbs and cut the larger ones into firewood-sized logs for me, and then did an incredible job cleaning up my roof and yard. They also laid down plywood on my lawn to protect it from the heavy equipment. All this for a price that was 60% lower than the highest quote I received and only slightly more than than lowest quote (from a company that didn't have the same stellar ratings as Woodland and wouldn't have been able to do the work for 2 more months). Very friendly owner, receptionist, and overall staff. I couldn't be happier with the level of service they provided."

"I had 2 large oak trees 2 feet from my house, and they were starting to die. A and H brought their crane, numerous trucks and other equipment, and a great efficient crew. They were done within the day and no surprises. Very exciting to watch! Thank you."

"This is by far the one of best interactions I have experienced from an Angie?s List provider.  Edward and his team were, prompt, efficient and extremely courteous. They cut down a 40+ year?s old Black Walnut tree and ground the stump. Pruned a 50+ year?s old Oak, and pruned a 27+ year?s old Red Maple. Lastly they pruned a Lilac bush which was near death.  Since pruning all the trees are thriving, because of this I plan to have them come and prune all the deciduous shrubs during the growing season spring of 2016. I couldn?t be happier with the end results.

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Palm trees aren’t much different than your typical tree removal. Removing a palm tree is a standard procedure as long as pros have the proper tools and supplies. For DIYers, however, there are some risks associated with palm tree removal. Palm trees have spiky fronds, bark, and patches of hefty wood. So, it’s best to let an experienced tree service pro remove a palm tree.

Aim to have your trees inspected and pruned in early spring. At this point in the year, tree service professionals can note where there is old growth from winter and cut that back to encourage new growth for the rest of the year. Pruning at the wrong time of the year could make your trees prone to diseases.

It may not be worth it to rake every leaf in your yard, but it’s necessary to remove the majority of leaves to prevent them from smothering grass growth on your lawn. However, raking leaves isn’t your only option for leaf removal. You can remove leaves easily with a leaf blower or compost or mulch them with your lawn mower to repurpose them to help grow your garden or yard.

After a big storm, you may not be sure if a tree was struck or not. Look for the telltale long scars, like strips or gouges in the bark of the tree, running in sometimes jagged lines down the length of the trunk. These scars will often show vulnerable living wood inside the tree. It’s also common to see scorched or wilted leaves on the side or top of the tree where lightning struck.

The cost of trees varies massively based on the size of the tree and the species. A small Colorado spruce can cost as little as $30, but a golden rain tree of the same size can cost $90. Large trees can cost $1,500 or more, depending on their species and height.
