Small jobs welcome

"I've used JT Lawler for several interior paint projects including two whole home jobs. This time we just needed some detail work following a few home renovation projects and as always we turned to JT Lawler. They delivered a quality work product on time and were extremely careful around our new cabinets and appliance. I look forward to working with them again in the future."

"We contracted with Statewide Painting to paint the interior of our home. We needed woodwork repaired/replaced, wall and ceiling seams repaired, nail pops repaired, wallpaper removed, woodwork and windows painted. The job was a challenge since it involved almost every room in the house. Dan brought his team in, and in a little over three we the entire job was completed. The rooms needed 2 - 3 coats each along with the repairs. Shout out to two key members of Dan's team, David and Christian for their attention to detail and how accommodating they were for our requests. The team cleaned up at the end of each day, covered all the flooring and furniture when working in a room, and when extensive sanding needed to be done, they were able to seal the room in plastic to reduce the spackle dust. Dan was onsite most days to make sure things were progressing and many days were painting walls, woodwork anything that needed attention. We would highly recommend Statewide for your painting projects."

"I used EJ Painting 3 times. He did such a wonderful job the first time that I used him when I was selling a family house. He did a great job again so the next year, I had him paint the whole interior of my condo when I was selling. He is prompt and, most importantly, he never leaves a mess. He also has good opinions on what colors and finishes look best in particular areas. His work is so neat and perfect. I referred him to friends also ."

"We first met Mauricio and his brother when they were preparing the foundation for our garage for our contractor. We had them do some painting an window re-pointing tasks as well as some carpentry repairs and tiling. Everything came out great! They are diligent and reliable - I only wish I'd met them sooner. Heartily recommended!"

Interior Painting questions, answered by experts

You can sand paint off a wall. However, it's difficult and time-consuming. Depending on why you wish to remove the paint, there are simpler ways to achieve similar results. Scraping off any loose paint and applying a skim coat is the most common way to hide a damaged wall or paint job.

Acetone—such as the type in nail polish remover—is a solvent that can remove paint from many surfaces, including wood. However, the acetone will also remove any finish on the wood and can stain the wood below.

If your home was built before 1978, there’s a chance that any paint on your hardwood floors could be lead paint—especially if it was already there when you moved in. Because lead is toxic, hiring a licensed pro to remove it is mandatory. The average price for professional lead paint removal ranges from $1,500 to $5,300 and depends on the scope of the project.

Some methods of removing paint from metal that use physical force, like scraping or grinding, may damage the metal. Other methods like chemical strippers or acids are unlikely to damage the metal underneath, but take care using any method to strip paint to minimize the chance of damage.

Yes, you can technically use a pressure washer to remove paint from brick, but it comes with a significant risk of damaging the brick surface. A high-power pressure washer can be fast but may leave the brick looking unsightly. The recommended method is to first apply a chemical paint stripper, following the product's instructions, and then use a stiff metal bristle brush or a pressure washer on a low-pressure setting to remove the loosened paint. Due to the risk of damage, it is often best to hire a professional who can use low-stress methods.
