"There are not enough good words for me to describe the job Ray, his son Nick and their team did on my project. I am somewhat of a perfectionist and these guys surpassed my expectations. They worked with me throughout the entire process and kept me informed about what they would be doing. I described my vision to Ray and he helped me select materials and a design that would be in my budget. It was a very labor-intensive job as I had a 6 inch thick cement patio and walkway that had to be jackhammered to break up and then carted away.As they worked, they took their time, checking levels often to make sure everything was perfect. The job they did was amazing. It took them almost 3 weeks to complete as it was a very large job so they definitely did not rush through it to get it done. Both the Retaining Wallâ s as well as the patio will be standing long after Iâ m gone ð Ray was very good at getting back to me very quickly when I had questions. He was flexible when I asked for changes to the scope of the project and was very fair with additional pricing. We will be doing a lot more landscape and hardscape work around the house and RMP landscape will be the only contractor I use for this type of work moving forward. I have had issues with contractors in the past, particularly those who use subcontractors. I was happy when I asked Ray if he did so and he told me no, that he had his own team to do all the work. I would recommend Ray and his team with hesitation, If you were looking for a contractor to do any type of landscaping or hardscaping work. Their prices are fair, communication is great, and job is top quality. Weâ ve already received many compliments on the improvements that Rays team made to our property. We sat out on our new patio this weekend with a glass of wine and watched the sun set. First toast to Ray and team for a job well done!"

"I called 4 contractors from local recommendations to price a full rip out and renew my driveway and to cut and replace a large concrete block in the sidewalk. I also went through Homeadvisor and Roca called me back the same day. He was in the area and stopped by within one hour. We discussed the job. My driveway is long and he clearly knows his business very well because he did not need to make detailed measurements. I had some pavers at the beginning of my drive and he said he would not be able to take them. He sent me a very reasonable price and contract the same day. He also set a fair payment schedule for the job. Roca worked with me to schedule the job (I wanted a few days between rip out and putting the new asphalt down). He came with his crew to rip out the asphalt which they did in one day. They stacked the old pavers in a neat pile. I wanted to bury drain pipes before the new asphalt was laid, and Roca advised me how to do it properly by installing a channel drain in front of the garage and connecting the drain pipes to the gutters. I decided to give him the work and he gave me a fair price. They even cut and set the Belgian blocks so that the pipes would be fully concealed. Roca compacted the base with a mechanical vibrating roller. This thing really packs the base down hard for the new asphalt. I have seen other contractors in the neighborhood using a roller that pulled by hand. Roca put down a deep layer of new asphalt - 4 to 6 inches - to compress. He got another load of asphalt to finish the job rather than â  stretchâ  the asphalt to cover the drive. He even took away the old pavers - no extra charge. Roca is an honest man, with a good hard-working crew. He cares about the job and works hard for the reviews he gets. My neighbors have been impressed and three have taken his number. He is very busy but I am hoping to hire Roca for more jobs (like replace my front steps and deck extensions)."

"The response to our original phone call was very quick and an explanation of the work to be done was very thorough on the first visit.  We felt very comfortable with the experience and although we had other quotes that were a little less  we felt based on the Angie’s List rating we would go with Hendrickson Excavating.   The work was scheduled very quickly and when the work was complete you would not have known a basement crack had been repaired.  Mark cleaned up the whole area making it look as if he had not been there.  When the bill arrived we were given a further discount as the extent of the work required was a little less than quoted, which we felt was excellent, because being inexperienced as we are we,  would not have known it took less to complete the job, very professional.   We fully support Hendrickson’s high rating on Angie’s List."

"Sam and his crew were so professional, courteous and respectful. I hired them to repair my front concrete steps. Sam quoted a reasonable price to install limestone, concrete, and place bricks all around the steps. I love my steps. The workmanship is so neat and the clean up was a wonderful touch. The attention to detail and efficiency was impressive. I will most definitely be using Professional Renovations for my future projects."

"Nick and his crew made fast work of a 10 x19 concrete slab patio extension in 90+ degree weather, using even better materials than he quoted me for originally (5000 psi concrete)! I would highly recommend them for anyone looking to pour concrete slabs for their patio."

Concrete Cutting questions, answered by experts

Cutting rectangular ductwork requires careful measurements and the right technique. Use a measuring tape and pencil to mark the cutting lines accurately. Tin snips are excellent for straight cuts on smaller ducts. For more extensive or thicker rectangular ducts, a reciprocating saw with a metal-cutting blade is effective.

Ensure the duct is well-supported and secure while cutting to prevent wobbling and maintain precision. After cutting, use a metal file to smooth any sharp edges, ensuring safety during installation.

Welding is the process of using extreme heat—and, sometimes, pressure—to attach two pieces of metal. In contrast, metal fabrication is a more involved process that can include welding, sheet metal work, bending, and other forms of metal manipulation. Metal fabrication is a large-scale project that may or may not involve welding, while welding is more often a step in larger fabrication projects.

Welders use a variety of methods in their trade. Different types of welding are better suited for different purposes and contexts. For example, stick welding is a versatile form suitable for most metals and alloys. The most common types of welding include:

  • Stick welding: $100–$1,000

  • Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding: $250 and up

  • Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding: $250 and up

  • Gas welding: $150 and up

  • Forge welding: $15–$25 per hour

Cutting round ductwork requires precision and the right tools. A duct cutter, specifically designed for circular ducts, is ideal. First, mark the cutting line on the duct using a measuring tape and pencil. Then, position the duct cutter's blade on the marked line. Apply steady pressure, rotating the cutter around the duct. The sharp blade creates a clean, precise cut. Alternatively, a reciprocating saw with a metal-cutting blade can be used for larger round ducts. Ensure the duct is securely held in place while making the cut to prevent slips and maintain accuracy.

This all depends on the tools you have on hand and whether you’re trying to cut a straight line or shapes.

The best tool to use for straight lines is either a circular saw or table saw. When cutting shapes, a jigsaw will be the easiest and most precise tool to use.
