"Our furnace failed on a rather cold day. We called Arctic Air Conditioning and they sent a technician the same morning. The system was ~30 year old, and we know we needed to replace. Once we confirmed that the furnace is not salvageable, they sent an advisor, Chris, to do the measurement and gave an estimate. Chris was able to arrange the installation in 2 days. The team came and completed the work as expected. The work was done in about 5 hours: removal of the old gas furnace & AC unit, installation of new units and new thermostat. They made sure we inspect their work, and showed us how the furnace works. The AC will need to be fully charged when the weather is warmer. A couple things to know is that the utility rebate is small and not worth taking into purchase decision. The Lennox thermostat works well, but the phone app does not work (rated extremely poorly on app store), so don't bother. We picked the better upgrade, which is reflected in the project cost."

"I am very happy with AC air ducts cleaning! They told me exactly what they were going to do and how much everything cost. I never had our air ducts cleaned but they made it so easy! Very happy and would happily recommend them!"

"My home warranty contracted out the job to Phase II. Robert came to troubleshoot a 30+ year old AC unit and was very honest about everything he found faulty. He was instrumental in convincing the warranty company to replace the entire condenser unit rather than continue putting band-aid fixes to this ancient unit. Few weeks after he replaced the unit that cools the upstairs, the other unit that cools the downstairs fails as well (also over 30 years old). Since he was already familiar with everything, the second unit was replaced as soon as weather permitted. I didn't even have to be home the second time since the work was outside anyway. The promptness of his repairs can not be overstated. He helped get us back up and running as soon as the parts were available on the next clear day, which we couldn't be more appreciative since we have both a toddler and infant at home. Also, this was during a heatwave when most of the week was 90+. On top of this, my son's 1st birthday party was coming up and we needed the AC back asap. We can't recommend Rob and Phase II enough, a true professional"

Customers say: Quality work

"A faulty compressor required replacing, but I was informed it was not worth it, and they would only do a complete AC system change, at a price $500 more than any other company in the area. I asked for a repair service, not a replacement service"

"Scope of project: Install two AC units in my house with new duct work. One traditional split system and a ductless mini-split. Background: I am a detailed oriented consumer that does his homework. The selection process I followed before hiring Dun Rite included an investigation of the AC units I wanted to purchase, cost estimates of components the vendor would need for the installation, 3 bid process with reputable vendors, reference checks, and confirmation of insurance coverage. Initial meeting: My initial meeting with Peter went very well. He spent time explaining the best way to approach my project and what his recommendations were to achieve the best results. He is very knowledgeable and confident. He was on time and professional. Pricing: Dun Rites initial pricing was very competitive. To be honest, no other contractor could come close to the pricing offered by Dun Rite for superior quality. Quality: Pete and his team did exceptional work even by my high standards. The work they performed was very impressive. The methods they use to install new ductwork could not compare to any of the other vendors I researched. Peter’s team installed no soffits or disrupted any closets. Larry and Larry, the installers that worked on my project, were very professional and demonstrated exceptional workmanship. Any issues that were discovered during the project were addressed in a timely manner. Comments / Observations: Peter is a very hard worker and takes on many responsibilities in running the business. He moves quickly to insure everything gets done, so you need to keep up. Texting him or calling him is much better than sending an email if you need an immediate response. He is always on the go. I only make or write recommendations for vendors that are exceptional and I can tell you, Dun Rite heating and cooling is one you can trust. I would use them again and recommend them to family and friends."

Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

The outdoor portions of air conditioners are designed to weather the rain, so you don’t need to worry about it. An awning or roof will help protect them from snow or falling debris, which can do more damage. This is true of both window AC and outdoor units for larger systems.

While an air conditioner can temporarily run with a dirty filter, it is not recommended as it will not work efficiently. A dirty filter forces the system to work harder to circulate cool air, leading to reduced airflow, increased wear and tear, and higher energy bills. This added strain can cause the air conditioner to overheat or fail prematurely. Furthermore, a clogged filter may allow dust and dirt to accumulate in your ductwork, negatively impacting air quality. It is more cost-effective to clean or replace filters regularly than to pay higher utility bills and risk needing to replace the entire AC unit.

Yes, you can put an AC unit on the roof of your home or commercial building. For proper installation, you’ll need to ensure the roof surface is flat, it’s accessible for maintenance and cleaning, and an AC installation pro agreed that your home is a candidate for package units. Don’t forget to consider the climate in your area, as homes that experience frequent tropical storms or hurricanes may not benefit from this type of system.

You should know the main components of an air conditioner: the condenser coils, evaporator coils, drip pan, AC filter, ducts, and refrigerant. Each part plays a key role in the performance and safety of your AC system. When tracking the source of AC issues or odors, it helps to know where to look. Your outdoor unit houses your condenser coils, fan, and compressor. Your indoor unit houses your evaporator coils, drain lines, and filter, and it connects to your ductwork.

The standard HVAC warranty is around five years. Still, many brands offer an extension to 10 years if you register the product within a specific timeframe, typically 60 to 90 days post-purchase or HVAC installation. Over the past decade, warranty periods have substantially increased, shifting from 3-5 years in the 90s to the now-prevalent 10+ year warranties. Both warranty types cover parts failing due to manufacturer defects, incurring no additional costs. Some manufacturers provide extended warranties surpassing the usual 15- to 20-year window, though these often involve extra fees.
