"I hired Regalbuto Septic to install a completely new septic system and to abandon my outdated cesspool system to support a sale of my house. I had initially hired another septic company to do this, but that company bailed out on me 4 weeks before my house sale closing date, causing me to scramble to find someone else to do the work in time. Regalbuto Septic was able to start the job within 2 weeks when every other septic company I called said I would have to wait 8 weeks for start. Their price was reasonable and the work quality and attention to detail was excellent. Owner Sam Regalbuto kept me informed along the way with status updates and the documents I would need for the house sale closing. They work crew was excellent and required little input or supervision. For example, they created a path on my lawn for their heavy equipment to pass, so as not to damage my driveway, and they re-seeded the path when work was complete. The entire install/abandonment was completed within 3 business days, a full 11 days before my closing date. I highly recommend Regalbuto Septic for septic installation work based on price, work quality, communication and timeliness. Many thanks to Sam & his crew for a job well done."

"Mr. Lee responded to my request immediately, arrived promptly, assessed the problem within minutes, went to work on the drain and had it cleared out in a very short time. His price was reasonable, his manner was polite and pleasant, he explained what he was doing and why, and it was a great relief to be able to use my sink again! I highly recommend him."

"They responded immediately and fixed the problem. While there we had them address a few other issues and they fixed them immediately and did not take advantage of us. We also had them come out in March 2013 because we were told that we needed a new well expansion tank by another company. They were honest and showed us that we did not need another tank. The tank was working fine. I would recomend these guys. They are good.

"I was in a pinch selling my home and needed a new septic system. I received a couple of quotes but KDJR Septic was the best. Ken Dorney knew I was stuck and could have really stuck it to me. But being the professional he is, he took care of me, made sure the work fit within my deadline. Everything was a first time pass and the work was superior. I highly recommend Ken Dorney and KDJR Septic."

Septic Tanks FAQs, answered by experts

On average, you should call a pro to pump your cesspool once per year. If you have a larger home with a lot of family members, you may need to pump more (up to six times per year). On the flip side, if you’re talking about a cesspool for a home you don’t use much or if you’re the only occupant in a home, you won’t have to pump nearly as much.

Yes, shower water goes into the septic tank. Shower water is a type of greywater, and in fact, all water used in a home with a septic system—including water from sinks, toilets, the dishwasher, and the washing machine—drains into the tank. When shower water enters the tank, debris like soap and hair travels with it. The solid debris sinks to the bottom to become sludge, while soap residue joins the scum layer at the top. The remaining water is treated in the tank before moving to the drain field for further treatment and dispersal. It is important to avoid putting oil or harsh chemicals down any drain, as they can cause clogs or disrupt the beneficial bacteria required for proper wastewater management in the septic system.

Septic tank odors can happen because of a few different issues with your septic system, such as a full tank, clogged drains, or blocked venting systems. Not only is a smelly septic tank pretty unpleasant, but it can also pose a potential hazard to yourself and your home. Toxic fumes could be hanging around, or untreated wastewater could be harming the environment.

How do you set your well’s pressure tank? All you need to do is first drain the tank of water and find the pressure switch. Remove the switch cover and adjust the switch with a wrench—clockwise to increase water pressure, and counter-clockwise to reduce it. Each complete turn of the nut on the switch should equal 2.5 psi. Once this is done, replace the switch cover. All that’s left is to adjust the pressure of the tank itself using an air compressor and a tire gauge to support the new setting.

Yes! Toilet paper can be flushed if you use a septic tank. While unique toilet papers designed to be used with septic tanks are available, many people have no problem flushing regular toilet paper with a septic tank, so long as you don’t flush too much toilet paper all at once. Do not flush any type of baby wipes or bathroom wipes, even if they say “flushable.”
