"Thanks Mark for cleaning my dryer, air vents and ducts. You were very respectful of my house, thorough and explains to me what you were doing and helping me understand what you’re trying to accomplish. I think you worked above and beyond. "My experience with air experts for the installation of a new HVAC unit and hot water heater was nothing short of superb. The team of technicians that arrived were professional, clean cut and the hardest working young men I have ever seen, all of them. They worked from 9am until after 10pm. Todd, the lead tech, Dennis, Iilia, and Acold were tireless on the installation. They were obviously dedicated employees that the company should be proud of. The installation of the HVAC was difficult as it was in a crawl space. I couldn't be more pleased! The we're contracted through Lowe's and I found David Page, the sales rep, to be professional and responsive to my initial concerns."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

You need to know the square footage of your home first. Multiply that number by 20, which will get you the BTUs (British Thermal Units) needed to cool your home efficiently. Homes up to 1,000 square feet usually need a 1.5-ton unit; homes 1,000 to 1,200 square feet usually need a 1.75-ton unit, and homes 1,200 to 1,400 square feet usually need a 1.9-ton unit. Talk to a local pro for more specific advice on your home.

A new air conditioner capacitor will cost less than replacing the entire air conditioner system. While a capacitor itself will cost between $8 and $25, paying a professional to replace an AC capacitor will cost $180 on average. It’s not safe to replace an air conditioner capacitor on your own.

Evaporator coils in HVAC systems typically last around 10 to 15 years. However, their life span can be longer or shorter based on factors like the frequency of your HVAC system usage, whether regular maintenance is performed, and environmental conditions. Regular maintenance, such as HVAC system cleaning and coil inspection, can extend the durability and efficiency of your evaporator coil.

Unfortunately, a freon leak will persist even when your AC unit is off. The freon in the AC unit is under pressure no matter the status of the system, so it will continue to drip through the leak even when you shut off the entire unit. It will continue to leak freon until it’s completely empty.

If your HVAC system's capacity doesn't match the required CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute), imbalances can occur. An undersized system struggles to maintain desired temperatures, leading to discomfort. An oversized system might short-cycle, wasting energy and causing temperature fluctuations. Properly matching capacity to CFM ensures efficient and consistent heating, cooling, and home ventilation system performance.
