"Abe Nick provided extra services of replacing the ceiling tiles that had leak stains and sealing the windows that leaked. Had photos of old roof vs new roof where I can compare the quality of their work services . I like the way they presented during estimation showing the materials actual wood they are installing. My budget exceeded $3 grand out of $20 but truly satisfied of their work dedication. HATS OFF TO YOU ABE & NICK of ALLIED ROOFING."

"More Core Construction replaced my neighbor's roof, and I was impressed. My 20 year old roof developed a leak and I could think of no better company than More Core Construction. I met with Josef and he not only inspected the roof from outside, he also went into the attic to inspect the underside of the wood decking. He gave me a quote and we agreed on some upgrades. The work done by his crew in ONE Day was EXCELLENT! From site prep to rip off, and the installation of new roof shingles... they did a great job, and the price was reasonable. I would recommend More Core Construction for your roofing project."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

Generally, roof flashing is installed under the shingles to create a watertight seal and prevent moisture from seeping in and causing damage. However, the exact placement can depend on the type of flashing. For instance, with step flashing, the shingles and flashing overlap each other, meaning the flashing is technically both over and under the shingles. Flashing also typically goes beneath the house siding and is often not visible from the ground.

There are two main types of roofing shingles: 3-tab and architectural. Architectural shingles cost more than 3-tab but offer a more unique look and can last longer. However, 3-tab shingles are lightweight and affordable, and many people use them for both patching roofs and installing new roofs. Ultimately, the best type for you depends on your budget and your home’s aesthetic.

As long as your solar panels are properly installed without damage to your roof, they will not shorten the roof’s life span. Solar panels can act as a cover or barrier to your roof and help block external elements, such as debris, heat, and UV rays. Reduced exposure to the weather can extend your roof’s life.

To cap off a chimney flue, start by measuring its width, length, and diameter, if it’s circular. Purchase a cap that fits the flue, and decide whether you want a temporary or permanent model. Then, slide or insert the cap onto the flue and secure it with a screwdriver. Be sure to avoid over-tightening the screws to prevent chimney damage.

The best style of chimney cap for a brick chimney is one that fits tightly around the brick top of the chimney. The cap should have a screen to fully enclose it to keep animals out. The best materials include stainless steel, copper, or aluminum that fit tightly or are custom fabricated for a perfect fit on your chimney.
