"We recently had a new combi boiler installed by CRS Heating & Cooling System, and we found that they do excellent work at a fair price. Bob provided quotes for different brands and patiently answered all of our questions so that we could make the best decision for our family in replacing our old machine. Cody is professional, skilled, and took the time to be sure that our new combi boiler was properly installed. We are so fortunate to have found Cody and Bob at CRS Heating & Cooling System, and we plan to call on them for all of our future heating and cooling needs."

"I posted I needed a window AC unit removed and this company was the only one to respond. The owners wife responded with in an hour, told me they would be at my house 3 days later. I responded, can you give me an estimate of how much it would cost. She responded, sir there is no charge, we just like helping out the community. I was shocked. Being on a fixed income. Craig arrived, removed the AC, and I started asking questions about mini split systems. He was here at least an hour explaining how they worked and my options. I have now ordered my new AC slash heatpump, to be installed. There was no pressure, just me asking questions and I loved what he had to say. Perfect gentleman."

"Sunrise Heating and Cooling did an excellent job installing my new Rinnai tankless water heater/boiler. From start to finish, the experience was smooth and professional. The crew was knowledgeable, punctual, and took the time to explain the system and answer all of my questions. The installation was clean, efficient, and clearly done with attention to detail. Everything works perfectly, and I couldn?t be happier with the upgrade. It?s clear they take pride in their work. If you?re looking for reliable, honest, and high-quality service, I highly recommend Sunrise Heating and Cooling."

"Ed was the fourth heating contractor we contacted, in his case through Angie's List and Home Advisor. We weren't satisfied with the others, one of whom was completely unresponsive. Ed called within five or ten minutes of submitting our inquiry, and then came around the following afternoon to inspect the job and provide us with an estimate. He replaced our boiler a week later, at a VERY fair price. His workmanship is excellent and his responses quick. He also brought our system up to code. Ed left the job site in spotless condition. We recommend him without reservation."

Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

When winter rolls around, and you turn the heat on for the first time in a year, it’s normal to sense a light odor. This could smell a little like burning because some dust has gathered in the heating unit over the warm months and will fade away shortly after. However, there are some smells you should watch out for and take caution around: an egg-like sulfur smell or an electrical burn odor would indicate there’s something wrong. Turn it off and call a professional for maintenance as soon as possible.

No, boilers and water heaters are not interchangeable because they serve different primary functions. Boilers are used for central heating systems, providing hot water or steam to heat your home. In contrast, a water heater's purpose is to supply hot water for daily household use, such as for faucets and showers. A water heater alone cannot supply the warm water or steam needed for a central heating system.

While they are not interchangeable, it is common to have both a boiler and a water heater. In fact, a conventional boiler often works best when a water heater system is already in place. The two systems can be combined to provide both heating and hot water, either by pairing a boiler with an indirect water heater or by installing a premade combination boiler-water heater unit. For home heating, some homeowners may also opt for a furnace instead of a boiler.

The radiators closest in proximity to the boiler heating system will heat up first. Radiators in rooms farther away from the boiler will take longer to heat up and may be the coolest rooms in the house. The radiator unit itself should heat up evenly; otherwise, there may be trapped air inside it.

The most important sign of a boiler problem is something happening unexpectedly, which is why regular boiler maintenance is important. Unexpected problems can include strange smells, new leaks, and unexpected noises that your boiler wasn’t making before. Additionally, if a boiler keeps shutting off or can’t maintain a specific temperature range, it’s time to call in an expert.

Most experts recommend getting three to five HVAC quotes from licensed, insured, reputable local heating and cooling companies. Getting multiple detailed HVAC quotes (but not too many) lets you compare the equipment, services, and prices of several contractors without being overwhelmed by options. It can also let you see if one contractor’s prices are much higher or lower than the others and give you a chance to ask for clarification. That way, you can weed out any contractors who aren’t providing quality services or materials and find the company that best meets your budget, quality requirements, and long-term goals.
