"For 4 years we have been unable to get an HVAC specialist to come to our house to address an interior unit leak and those that did come prior could not figure it out. Frustrated, I reached out to Home Advisor and the next day CRS was at our home. They reviewed the situation, contacted the manufacturer and found that an original part had been discarded in installation which was likely causing the leak. A couple days after their first visit - our only first floor a/c was working beautifully (after its installation 6 years ago!). CRS was quick to address, innovative in approach, went the extra mile, professional, and reasonably priced. We couldn't be happier that CRS was able to help us with this longstanding problem."

"Repairs were excellent and thorough "even well documented". The tech found units low on coolant. He identified and repaired multiple refrigerant leak points. I have dealt with many HVAC contractors over the years and Freedom Air Mechanical is one of the best. I highly recommend."

Customers say: True professional

"I needed the ducts cleaned in our home. Gary went above and beyond. I would highly recommend them. He took the time to explain the whole process and did a thorough inspection of the ductwork when they noticed an issue with one of the ducts. they went above and beyond. I would highly recommend them for all your ductwork cleaning. If I could I would give them 10 stars."

"Customer service and communication was outstanding. The quick response to resolving our problem (hot water heater replacement) was greatly appreciated. Not sure if the 5-star â valueâ rating is appropriate since we didnâ t pursue competitive pricing...we didnâ t bother because they were exceptional on all other fronts."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Many HVAC manufacturers provide warranties that encompass the cost of a new compressor, with durations ranging from 5 to 10 years, depending on the brand. These warranties cover critical components such as the compressor, condenser, connecting tubing, evaporator, and refrigerant charge. Moreover, they often include the necessary labor for replacement or repairs. Keep in mind that premium-brand compressors may offer lifetime warranty options. It's essential to note that these warranties rarely cover labor costs.

HVAC companies may charge an hourly rate or a flat fee. Hourly rates typically range from $100 to $250 per hour, with an average around $175. Some contractors charge a flat fee for specific services, such as an inspection, which can cost between $150 and $500. The total cost of an HVAC service is influenced by several factors, including: the urgency of the service (emergency repairs after hours or on holidays cost more), the time of year, the type, size, and brand of your HVAC system, the specific repair needed, and whether you have a service contract.

You should know the main components of an air conditioner: the condenser coils, evaporator coils, drip pan, AC filter, ducts, and refrigerant. Each part plays a key role in the performance and safety of your AC system. When tracking the source of AC issues or odors, it helps to know where to look. Your outdoor unit houses your condenser coils, fan, and compressor. Your indoor unit houses your evaporator coils, drain lines, and filter, and it connects to your ductwork.

A new HVAC system can increase your home's value by about 5% to 7%, which can translate to an added value of $2,500 to $3,000. The return on investment (ROI) can be around 30%, especially if you upgrade the entire system, including ductwork and insulation. Adding modern features like a smart thermostat can further increase your home’s value by making the heating and cooling systems more efficient and convenient. However, since a new unit can cost $10,000 or more to install, it's important to weigh the upfront cost against the potential increase in home value. For a specific assessment, it's best to consult a local AC installer.

Most AC repair technicians will take between two and six hours to carry out repairs, depending on the work needed and the accessibility of the unit. For example, recharging refrigerant lines should take one to two hours to service, while replacing a compressor, blower fan, or other major components can take five to eight hours. You can ask your AC repair technician how long they expect the job to take, but just in case, you should plan on being home and available for most of the day.
