The only plumber I called (I called ten plumbing companies that advertised 24 hours service) who really is 24 hours service came out at 10 pm last night and figured out that our new sump pump had a defective float mechanism. Great guy who used to be an intelligence analyst in the Marines. Hence the name of his company Sargent Smithâ s Drain Cleaning Services. The owner is Micah Smith. 207-432-9378. All 5 star reviews on every app.It turns out the Zoeller pumps you can buy at Home Depot are not as good as the Zoeller pumps a plumber buys at a plumbing supplier that are made entirely of cast iron and have a more reliable float mechanism. Like the way Koehler makes â big box storeâ Home Depot versions of their bath products that are different and not as good. The float valve on the Zoeller we had in there was defective so it was running every 20 seconds and eventually overheating/ stopping every few hoursâ ¦ flooding our basementâ ¦ bc it was only running on the backup float which has a very short run cycle. He also put in an alarm alongside the new pump that will alert us with a smoke detector type loud beeping noise if there is an issue with water in the basement. Couldnâ t be more pleased."
