"I had a leak in my water main coming into the house in my crawl space. I called 2 local firms without being able to have so one come help. Linda from Mr.Rooter called me back within 10 minutes and scheduled a plumber for the next morning.Brian arrived by 11am accessed the situation gave me an estimate and was able to repair the leak. In most cases, you can’t connect to an existing sewer line, but this is specific to new builds and additions. For example, if you add on to a home or build an ADU, you'll likely have to install an entirely new sewer line. In most places, connecting new lines to an existing line is not up to code. As such, most new home builds or additions will require proposals for an entirely new line from the construction site to the sewer.

The water supply lines run underneath the bathtub. These two pipes deliver cold and hot water to the bathtub—the cold water comes from the main water supply, and the hot water comes from the water heater. The pipes are made from copper, cream-colored plastic CPVC, or red and blue PEX tubing.

Liquid drain cleaners are harsh chemicals that can erode your pipes. To treat a slow drain or for preventative maintenance, pour hot water down the drain to break up gunk and help move it along. Make sure the water isn’t boiling hot (keep it under 140 degrees Fahrenheit) if you have plastic pipes. However, you’ll need to pull the clog out for bigger backups. 

You can unclog a double kitchen sink by plunging the side with the garbage disposal. Cover the drain hole on the other side first to avoid creating a mess. Plunge up and down until the water starts to drain. You can also pour in baking soda and vinegar to try and dissolve a clog. 

If a pipe bursts in your home, the first step is to shut off the water supply as quickly as possible. You can often use a local isolation valve, such as the one under a kitchen sink, to cut off water to a specific area. However, if you cannot see the burst pipe or if it involves a large water supply line, using the main water supply valve is the best option to stop the flow. After the water is off, open all your faucets and flush the toilets to drain the pipes and relieve any remaining pressure. Finally, call a plumber to make an emergency repair.
