"NPC 3 is unbelievably great to work with. We have a mature Japanese Red Maple that is getting a bit too large and had contracted with other tree services it a few years ago. We were neither satisfied with the results nor the cost. While looking for another tree service, we were impressed with NPC 3's reviews & lucky for us, we contacted them. First rate customer service & workmanship, Nick is extremely professional & knowledgeable. He explained the how & whys followed with his recommendation. We are extremely happy with the results and would highly recommend NPC3"

Small jobs welcome

"Had a 140 ft tall pine, next to my deck. One tree service turned down the job as too risky. Another wanted thousands. Limb & Log handled the issue professional and miraculously. They pay attention to details and explain everything as they go. Great price. Awesome results."

Customers say: True professional

"Roger called me on Sunday, offered a free estimate and brought the needed equipment without any obligation. The pricing was very reasonable. We asked Roger to proceed with the work, which was accomplished faster than I could have imagined. One stump was very difficult as the tree had grown over a very large rock, but Roger managed it very competently. The wood chips were moved to a location of our choosing. How rare to have someone call, come to an appointment on time, provide a professional service all on the same day. Thank you Roger!"

"Tree Fellas are an excellent group of dedicated spirited workers. They work diligently and go above and beyond. They fully respect the property they work on. We had 18 trees taken down this time around and we will have them back next year without a doubt. The guys are friendly and extremely hard working. The clean up after the trees are taken down is something I've never imagined. They left our property the way it was prior to conducting the job. They've exceeded all our expectations. Thank you Tree Fellas for a job well done."

"Kimball and Sons were abundantly professional. Mike was responsive in his communications and flexible when I requested additional trees be taken down. The team that removed the trees were pros! They were able to take down dozens of large trees surrounding our house. I was impressed with the care they took of our property while they were here. I would certainly recommend Kimball and Sons to anyone looking to have trees removed."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Homeowners are usually not responsible for trees that fall on power lines. Power companies usually have utility easements around power lines, which give them the responsibility to maintain any trees within about 15 to 20 feet of the lines.

Unless it’s dead or dangerous, think twice about cutting down a tree in your yard. They’re good for health, well-being, wildlife, and the environment. Plus, local authorities often have regulations prohibiting the removal of trees, especially protected species or individual trees with historical value.

Yes, cutting a tree's roots can cause it to fall, particularly if major support roots are severed. In extreme cases, trimming roots can affect the tree's structure and stability. Many crucial roots are located just below the soil's surface. If you make severe cuts to roots more than 2 inches in diameter, you risk impacting the tree's water flow and its ability to withstand severe winds or storms. Even cutting roots less than half an inch in diameter under or outside the tree's canopy can cut off its water supply, causing it to decline, die, and eventually topple.

Whether tree roots will continue to grow after a tree has been cut down depends on the species. Some tree roots will eventually die because they can no longer get nutrients through photosynthesis. However, other species that reproduce through root sprouts can continue to grow and produce new sprouts for seven years or more. For example, the roots of elms, ficus, and willows tend to regrow aggressively, while the roots of pines, oaks, and maples will typically die. To determine if a root system is still active, look for new sprouts on the old trunk, stump, or any exposed roots.

Though summer is not ideal, you can do some light pruning during this time of year. Just make sure it’s not excessive. Vigorous pruning will stress the tree and impact next year’s growth. Generally, August to September are the best summer-pruning months, particularly for fruit trees.
