Small jobs welcome

"The duct-cleaning crew were all very prompt, efficient, neat, thorough, and professional. We're not sure about the 'value' aspect as it seems a bit 'pricey', but we've never had this done before, so it's hard to judge. One promised 'freebie' - the dryer vent - was not completed, as the crew ran out of time and had to leave before dark to avoid malfunctioning trailer-tail lights issues. It might be our imaginations, but we sense the air really does 'feel' fresher and cleaner. We're gald we had this done...and we would recommend H-P P W, LLC."

Deck Maintenance questions, answered by experts

Your deck may look or feel fuzzy after pressure washing because the high-pressure spray tears some wood fibers as it removes the outer layer of dead and discolored wood. This fuzzy effect is a normal part of the pressure-washing process and will go away on its own in a few weeks. You can opt to spot-sand your deck if you’d like to remove it more quickly.

Most building codes list a minimum width of 36 inches and a maximum height of 7¾ inches. However, for the most comfort and spaciousness, you’ll want to aim for a width of at least 48 inches and a height of 7 inches. Again, it’s always a good idea to base your numbers off steps that you already use comfortably.

A ground-level deck is a great idea for an outdoor space because it’s easy to access and doesn't require stairs or railings. You can install a ground-level deck near your home or farther away on your property. You can place a ground-level deck around a pool, fire pit, or near a view such as a lake, pond, or area of trees.

It is possible to build your own deck, but it’s typically better to leave the work to a decking professional. Decks can be exceptionally complicated, especially if you want a wrap-around or second-story deck, and you don’t want to risk making an expensive or dangerous mistake. It’s usually better to hire a decking pro who can pull permits and build a structurally sound deck that will last for decades and provide the maximum return on investment.

That depends on the condition of your deck. An older deck that looks drab, worn, or has multiple damaged boards might be worth replacing before selling. However, if your deck is in good condition, you can simply clean, repaint, or stain it.
