"SafeStreets Home Security was a lifesaver! They had to troubleshoot my 3 floor townhouse unit, requiring many trips up and down the stairs. Finally determined that I needed an entire new alarm system but had all the parts and equipment available. Helped me program the app and set my security codes."

"Nolan did a great job updating our security system. I did a search on Home Advisor and Nolan called me back right away. He answered all my questions promptly and professionally. The work was done on time and as promised. I would highly recommend Security Protection Systems, LLC."

"Pro:
Universal came to our house within 4 hours of my call and was able to identify what was causing the hard-wired smoke detectors to go off in our house. The Electrician was very professional. He completed the job in less than an hour, identifying that an old security system was causing the problem. He then was able to seal off the smoke detector that was going off in just 5 minutes. We walked through our home trying to find any remaining smoke detectors for the electrician to seal off. He stated to me before he left that if I found anymore that we had missed, to just call and he would come back and complete the job.
Con:
I found one smoke detector that he had missed, and so called Universal to have the Electrician come back out and complete the job. The man I spoke to was very rude on the phone, and told me that the electrician did not have the "ok" to tell me that Universal would come back and "complete the job." The man on the phone told me that he would charge me an additional $70 for the Electrician to come back to my house for the 5 minutes that it would take to seal off the remaining smoke detector. While I do understand that their labor/time is money--I did not appreciate the rudeness displayed on the phone call, nor did I appreciate the quote of $70, which was the same amount I paid for the original visit, which included much more than the 5 minutes to seal off a smoke detector. I will not be using this company again.

"It went great!  From Travis the sales person to Noah the installer I couldn't have asked for a more professional and through team to deliver my home security needs.  We just bought a new house in a neighborhood that's up and coming but there's still an element that we want to protect our home and valuable from.  Security One helped us find a system that we could monitor while we're away and that would make my girlfriend feel safe when I'm not a home.  We highly recommend them especially Travis and Noah.  Ask for them by name!

"They system was installed for the basic, but anything that you wanted needed to be higher upgraded require alot of extra money for every upgrade.
The 36.99 monthly fee was for only if your system is connected to a landline. I didnnt notice that they charge me $44.99 until my 1st month fee. Thats when I was told that they charge $44.99 because the alram was connected to my cable line instead. I was unaware of the different charges. When tec came out he didnt show up to fix the corrected. Had to call the main company for the no show. So they schedule another appointment and offered 2 window alarms to fix the correction but my bill still is $44.99. Default is that since I didnt have extra money to upgrade to the Pulse, you dont know if you turn the alarm to your house properly. I called the 800 number and they cant tell either!

Home Security Systems questions, answered by experts

Smart home upgrades can be worth the money. Several upgrades, including smart thermostats and ceiling fans, can help reduce your energy bills. Others make life more convenient, freeing up your time to do what you love (or get more work done). And some smart home upgrades, such as entertainment systems, simply make life more enjoyable. All are worthy causes.

In general, daytime visibility for security cameras ranges from 10 to 70 feet. Higher-end cameras may have night vision that records 100 to 200 feet out. When shopping for any type of security camera, it's important to pay attention to focal length, resolution, and infrared technology to get an idea of the depth and crispness that will be used when capturing images.

The best window alarm sensor depends on the type of window you’re concerned about since different types of sensors will work best in different scenarios. Many homes are equipped with contact sensors, which trigger an alarm when a window is opened, and each part of the sensor breaks contact with the other. But there are other options, too, like a glass break sensor or motion sensor, which both work well for windows that are in low-traffic areas.

While all security lighting systems offer different benefits, motion sensor security lights have the most advantages and the fewest cons for the average homeowner. While the upfront cost can be hefty, automatic, motion-detected activation will reduce your energy bills in the long run by ensuring the lights are only turned on when necessary. Plus, they’ll ward off intruders and help invited guests find their way onto your property in equal measure.

If you're wondering what you should do with your old security alarm system after installing a new one, one option is to properly dispose of it at an electronics collection facility. Otherwise, if your old system is still in good shape, you can also donate it for someone else to use in their home.
