"Before this work, this was an unsightly gravel area that drained toward the house foundation. This new paver path design and construction significantly improved the house's appearance, the area's usefulness, and drainage. I am very impressed by the technical insight and professionalism of the representative who visited our home and presented a design with a thorough estimate. "Our experience in a new home with mold spores was extremely frustrating. "The project of replacing our 25 yr old railroad tie retaining walls and stairs with stone came out better than we could have imagined. The owners and workers respected our concerns for our mature trees. Instead of machines tearing up our lawn, they hand dug the wall trenches. Each night they perfectly cleaned up the work site, our driveway, and the staging area in our circle. It was a unique experience and was much appreciated. They men were all very polite. Whether you’re installing brick siding over a traditionally-framed home or you’re using genuine brick construction to build, the biggest downside of a brick house is the higher cost you’ll pay for the materials and labor. Real brick construction also means your home build will take longer, as it’s more time-consuming to construct brick walls than it is to frame out your home.

For most brick cleaning jobs, including fireplace bricks, use a masonry sponge and a gentle cleaner. A simple solution of equal parts water and vinegar, or a few drops of dish soap in a bowl of water, can effectively remove grime. For tougher stains, you can use a dedicated masonry or fireplace cleaner. It is crucial to wet the bricks thoroughly with water before applying any cleaning solution to prevent the brick from absorbing it, and to rinse the surface completely afterward. Harsher cleaners containing bleach or ammonia should only be used as a last resort, and they should never be mixed together.

Yes, you can limewash surfaces other than brick. Plaster, stone, stucco, and concrete can all also be limewashed. Any porous surface that will absorb the wash is a good candidate for limewash, although it won’t help much with waterproofing. If you choose to limewash over paint, you’ll need to prep before applying it to avoid a powdery, chalky finish. Shiny surfaces like metal or glass can’t absorb limewash, so it’s not suited for these.

Modern brick houses are really stick-built homes with a brick facade for aesthetic purposes only, so most have framing. With genuine brick construction, most homeowners install furring strips over the interior of the brick and then install drywall over those strips to cover the brick wall, so they don’t have traditional framing.
