"Before this work, this was an unsightly gravel area that drained toward the house foundation. This new paver path design and construction significantly improved the house's appearance, the area's usefulness, and drainage. "The project of replacing our 25 yr old railroad tie retaining walls and stairs with stone came out better than we could have imagined. The owners and workers respected our concerns for our mature trees. Instead of machines tearing up our lawn, they hand dug the wall trenches. Each night they perfectly cleaned up the work site, our driveway, and the staging area in our circle. It was a unique experience and was much appreciated. They men were all very polite. Some older brick material is extremely hard, making it tough to create a hole. Rather than using a typical wood drill bit, always use a masonry drill bit when drilling into brick. For extremely hard brick, using a power drill with a hammer function may give you better results. The drill bit will heat up as it goes into the extremely hard brick, so you may need to stop after a few minutes and allow the bit to cool before starting to drill again.

You should clean your home’s brick once per year. This applies to exterior brick, but also to cleaning brick fireplaces. Create a homemade cleaning solution with equal parts vinegar and water. Use a soft-bristle brush to scrub the solution into the face of your brick and remove dirt, algae, and stains. Cleaning will protect brick from damage and boost your home’s curb appeal.

Masonry work tends to be more expensive because the materials can be costly, such as natural stone and brick. Masonry is also very labor intensive, typically making up 50% or more of the final project cost.
