400 employees. No subs. Charges a flat rate for service visits. Contract costs are determined by the job. No travel charges. Extra charge for after-hours service. Additional contact names - Tim Smith, Additional phones - (757) 420-1921, (757) 873-2194. NATE certified, BPI certified

"Hired Smith&Keene to rpl (cosmetic reasons) 2 faucet fixtures & pot filler in my home. This service was HORRIBLE!I held out on this review b/c the repair guy knows where I live but after this lastest experience I had today with a home warranty repair that they did NOT repair during service call b/c it still wobbles & now leaking through my ceiling i have to report this company. The plumber was so filthy (I was his first appt that morning) that he left his dirty spots from his body all over my walls in my brand new home (2021). He wasn't going to clean it up until I pointed it out to him. You can still see the stains. I had to so much cleaning up after him it was the worst experience I've ever had. He also did more talking than working as if I wasn't paying him buy the hour. Only hired Smith/Keene b/c they built my home. Now today when reporting a toilet leaking through ceiling of my garage, they refuse to fix it when they are the cause of it leaking since they did not fix it when I reported the loose toilet to builder (KIRBOR) 4 days after moving in. Now both KIRBOR & SMITH/KEENE are denying that they are responsible. When you shimmy a loose toilet & it still wobbles it's NOT fixed! I have submitted records/pics of the original request but S&K states they do not have record of them coming out and Kirbor will not cover the repairs. HOW CONVENIENT FOR SMITH & KEENE AND KIRBOR. S&K will not be getting my business any longer for any future work on my home. I don't care that they assisted in the build of this home. Buyers beware of KIRBOR Homes and Smith & Keene for plumbing issues. They both half a** their work, don't repair things when reported and conveniently deny record of things. I would not ever use this company or refer them to anyone."

CW is proud to be the most trusted and respected weatherization company in the area. They have been the chosen contractor for several Department of Energy, and Utility funded programs for over 6 years. Everyone at CW takes pride in their customer service, cleanliness, and the highest quality, most cost effective improvements available. All employees have the latest certifications. Including BPI, Lead Certified Renovator, First Aid, and others.

"Let's say if you don't go with this company, you'll be severally disappointed. The Carolina Weatherization team, (Matt, Eric, Chris and Brian) are phenomenal! I considered putting in insulation in October to support my energy costs and went through several quotes with other companies prior to selecting this team. I am incredibly happy that I reviewed this quote and chose this team. They let me know they were on the way prior to arrival, took impeccable care of my home by laying down cloth, wearing booties, and doing a bang up cleaning job prior to leaving. They were helpful in repairing a shelving unit and installing a brand new attic door to support all of their work. These gentlemen take pride in their work and it shows with how diligent they are in ensuring that the right steps are taking before, during, and after."

"Work has been scheduled for early in 2019, but they could not have been more helpful and professional in explaining our options, how our home would get the most out of the panels, and how much we are likely to save. They were explicit about costs and available rebates. We were instructed to apply for a rebate from our local energy supplier and they literally walked us through the time specific rebate procedure. We made some minor changes to their standard contract and they accepted those changes without question. I can only assume their work will be up to these standards when we do the actual installation."

Energy Efficiency Auditing questions, answered by experts

Yes, energy-efficient windows really can make a difference. As long as energy-efficient windows are properly installed and maintained, they can reduce your energy bill and offer significant savings.

While many states require all new construction to undergo blower door tests, it’s not a requirement for existing homes. But in both cases, a blower test helps confirm that the contractor has sealed the exterior, that the type of ductwork installed is functioning properly, and that your home is as efficient as possible.

While installing your new furnace, you should consider hiring a pro to perform a home energy audit . This audit will give you a handy list of any projects you could undertake to improve your home's overall energy efficiency rating, including replacing or sealing windows and insulating the attic. These improvements can help save you money each month in utility costs.

Replacing a window frame will improve your home’s energy efficiency if the old frame is cracked or damaged in a way that allows unconditioned air from the outside into your living space or if you upgrade to a more energy-efficient window frame material. Aluminum is the least energy-efficient window frame material, followed by vinyl and wood. Fiberglass and composite frames are the most energy-efficient.

If you want a new boiler that’s going to help lower your fuel bills, you should buy one that has a high energy-efficiency rating. For example, a boiler that is rated “A” uses at least 90% of the energy created by the boiler. And in order to enjoy the best performance, it’s important to have it installed properly by a highly-rated tech.
