"All around great service, very professional and straight forward experience. From evaluation of roof condition and or damage, to working with the insurance adjuster to help determine replacement over repair options, Dunlop Roofing was top notch and did a wonderful job installing my new roof in just one day. An awesome company that I fell comfortable recommending."

"

For my recent, post-hurricane roof replacement on the Outer Banks, I could not be more pleased with the quality and speed of the Corolla Roofers.  The team was more than reliable ---- they showed up on time and worked tirelessly to quickly complete the project.  With the temperatures at the time hovering around 100 degrees and 100 percent humidity, it was not a pleasant time for any person to be outside, much less three stories up in the blazing sun on a hot roof!  Afternoon storms and intermittent rain showers did nothing to impede progress.  Undeterred, Corolla Roofer soldiered on through an impeccable installation.   The work site was tidied at the close of each day and random nails, shingles, and other debris were sought out and removed at the project’s close.  I felt comfortable and was kept apprised of the project’s progress at least daily --- through texts and with pictures!  The team was friendly and polite and trustworthy.  When they commit to a job, you know when and where you stand from the first day ---- they actually show-up and get the job done.  Anyone who has ever sought maintenance, repair, or improvements for  their home in the OBX knows that most of the time, people just don’t show up and seemingly still are busy enough that they really don’t care.  That’s not the Corolla Roofers team ---- the work they do is not a simple transaction to them ---- it’s partnership that is very personalized.  You know that they are intimately invested in the outcome of their work and ultimately in their relationship with you.

"We contracted in late December for Roofing Inc. to install a new Interlocking Roof. Once we finalized the deal it took about 2 weeks to have the materials delivered and work to begin. On the first day of the project the front of the house was stripped of the old roof material and about 1/4 of the new roof installed. We were impressed that there was very little refuse in the yard and the amount of work that was accomplished on the first day. Of course everything can't go right with any project, in conversing with the crew chief I did not mention that we live about 14 miles from everywhere. Also the salesman did not inform him either. We were unable to be here for the first day and when we did speak with the crew chief, he said that they nearly ran out of gas and did not have lunch the first day. We felt really bad about that but that set back did not effect the professionalism or diligence of the crew. On the second day they completed the installation of the front roof, removed the old roof on the rear and prepared the bare unlayment to weather the rain due the next day. We weathered the storm with no leaks. Thursday brought the sun and our new roof. It looks great and the craftsmanship is excellent. i would recommend Roofing inc and the Interlock roof for anyone that is looking for a roof that will last a lifetime."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

Yes, gable vents can let water in. That being said, this usually only occurs during extreme conditions like heavy rainfall. You can prevent water from entering through gable vents by adding a screen that traps the water before it can enter.

Yes, removing a chimney is a difficult and major undertaking. Chimneys often provide structural support to a home, so if it's a load-bearing structure, you'll need to take extra precautions to maintain your home's integrity. A project of this complexity typically requires a structural engineer, a masonry contractor, and a demolition crew. The removal process may involve taking the chimney out brick by brick from inside the walls. The cost for chimney removal can range from $2,000 to $10,000, depending on the job's complexity. Due to the difficulty and cost, some homeowners opt to remove the fireplace and seal the chimney at the top and bottom, sometimes also removing the visible exterior portion at the roofline.

Skipping the installation of a drip edge or gutter apron can lead to significant water damage. Without this component, water is more likely to seep under roofing materials or leak behind gutters, damaging the fascia, soffits, siding, and even the interior of your home, such as the attic. Over time, this moisture can cause rot, mold, and deterioration. In colder climates, a missing drip edge also increases the risk of ice dams, which can lead to expensive repairs. A drip edge is an essential part of a roof's drainage system, and some local building codes may even require its installation to protect the home from water damage.

Many roofers remove satellite dishes as part of their services, especially during roof repairs or replacements. However, they typically won’t reconnect or reinstall the dish. If you no longer need the dish, roofers can dispose of it, but for reuse, you may need a satellite technician to handle reinstallation.

Gable roof construction can last for 100 years or more without needing structural repairs, although the lifespan depends on your climate. Since gable roofs are great at shedding rain and snow, the actual roofing material on top will last for between 20 and 100 years or more, depending on the material you choose. If you’re unsure that your gable roof is up to par, have a roof inspector take a look.
