"The team determined that it was not a clog or roots (another company said that was the cause), but that the connection of the sewer had shifted down and the wasted was not able to continue up the pipe. The replacement cost was much better than expected and job was done e in 4 hours on a very hot afternoon."

"I had a toilet that I tried to unplug & couldnâ t. Brandon at Warren & Sons answered my call for help; he was able to come to my home & unplug the toilet in between two appointments that I had that day. The service was wonderful & I appreciated how quickly it was taken care of. I would certainly recommend them!"

"They did a good job and followed up quickly to install a riser. Good service at a good price. BUT... I was a bit skeptical of their recommendation for a new filter and expensive turbo cleaning of the septic field/components. I declined the recommendation. The septic field isn't showing any signs of a problem (soggy/soft ground). I might regret it, but I suspect they were needlessly upselling me."

"It is a privilege to give William Parrish Plumbing my highest recommendation. Our project included drain/flush of a tank-less hot water system and repair of a cracked toilet valve. The work was performed by Pedro who was personable, knowledgeable, and a true craftsman at his trade. He presented several work options so I could pick the service best meeting my needs. Pedro was efficient and extremely clean. You can't go wrong with these guys."

Small jobs welcome

"I'm almost embarrassed to leave this review. We looked for a plumber because we couldn't get our dishwasher to work in our new (to us) house. They came out immediately and didn't make me feel stupid at all...even though my issue was SO STUPID. They simply flipped the switch and didn't even charge me for coming out! Very professional! Very kind :)"

"Had a plumbing issue that required replacing my garbage disposal. Harrison came by quickly and took care of everything expertly while I had to head out to work. Came back to a perfectly working kitchen. Thanks!"

Sewer Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Unlike regular cleanings, snaking your sewer line should be done as needed. There’s no reason to snake your sewer line if you don’t have any noticeable issues, like slow drainage or plugged drains. You can add it to your regular sewer cleaning checklist as a prevention method (on the same 18- to 22-month schedule), but it’s not always necessary.

There is conflicting advice on whether to leave a baking soda and vinegar mixture in a drain overnight. Some sources suggest it can be effective for tough clogs, recommending that you flush the drain with warm water in the morning as part of a monthly cleaning routine. However, other experts advise against leaving the mixture in for extended periods, as its caustic nature could corrode drainpipes if used too often or left in for too long.

It is safe to flush small amounts of bleach down the toilet. Don’t flush more than ¼ cup of bleach. Instead, consider diluting it and pouring it down the sink drain.

There are a few things that can happen to your sewer system if you don’t fix it. These include rainwater entering it and causing rust and corrosion, dirt and debris leading to blockages, small animals getting stuck inside and clogging your sewer line or entering your home, and shortening the sewer system’s life span.

Without a cap, nothing prevents toxic and non-toxic gasses like methane and hydrogen sulfide from slowly escaping your sewer system and entering your home and the surrounding atmosphere, resulting in a foul sewer odor throughout your house.

Sewer gas in any location can cause eye and respiratory irritation if you’re exposed at low levels, or more severe symptoms if you’re exposed at high levels—but fortunately, the fresh air outside means it’s less likely to affect your physical health. However, sewer smells outside can still indicate significant plumbing problems that will need to be dealt with, such as a potentially damaged sewer line or roof vent pipe.
