"Anthony was so helpful. He was quick, efficient, and helpful. They came out same day and problem fixed in 20 minutes. The “handymen” that came out the day before said our whole toilet would need to be replaced and charged us double the money and didn’t fix anything. Anthony walked us through what the problem was and fixed it quickly. We’re very impressed and happy with Toilets N Such. Thanks Anthony!!"

"My main sewer pipe was clogged which prevented regular use of running water in my home. Additionally, the sewer cap was blown off due to the blockage in the water pipes Aaron called me within 10 minutes of me seeking referrals from Angie's list. He quoted a very fair price and came to my home around midnight to complete the work. When I spoke with him, he understood the problem and shared with me exactly what he would do to resolve the problem. He showed up within 40 minutes with state-of-the-art equipment, a great attitude, terrific customer service, and with the confidence of a professional professional who had been in this trade for many years. I cannot speak highly enough about Aaron and crossroads plumbing and drain but what I will share is that I have found my plumber for life. If you are considering crossroads plumbing and drain, do yourself a favor and give this highly skilled and personable professional an opportunity to make you a lifelong customer. You'll be glad you did!"

Sewer Cleaning questions, answered by experts

A two-way cleanout can help if there’s already a clog, but the best strategy to prevent one is by not rinsing grease, oil, or fat down your drains, not flushing or rinsing coffee grounds or egg shells down your drains, flushing only human waste and toilet paper (so no diapers, period products, bathroom wipes, or paper towels), and using drain guards on all of your drains.

As a preventative measure, hydro jetting should be done every one to two years. However, the best practice is to hydro jet your sewer line once per year. The ideal frequency depends on several factors, including the age and condition of your pipes, how prone they are to clogging, how often the sewer line is used, and the type of waste disposed of in the system. If you frequently experience clogs or are unsure, it's best to ask a licensed plumber for a recommendation specific to your plumbing system.

Ejector pumps can only push sewage 750 feet or less. That’s because their purpose is to move waste from your home to your sewer line—which is a relatively short distance. Grinder pumps can transport sewage further, but they manage lower volumes of waste than ejector pumps (and they don’t work with septic systems).

In most states, companies that perform sewer cleaning services don’t need specific licensing, but you should always ensure you hire a licensed and certified plumber to get the work done. You can use our state licensing tool to check whether the potential sewer cleaning company holds a plumber’s certification and license. Hiring a certified sewer cleaning services guarantees that the work will be done safely, there won’t be additional damage done to your home, and the problem will be fixed.

You could be smelling sewer gas in your kitchen because of a dry P-trap, clogged vent pipe, or leaking plumbing seals. If you smell a rotten egg odor, check your sink’s P-trap and plumbing connections first. A clogged or damaged vent pipe can trap sewer gas and push it back into your kitchen through the plumbing pipes. Loose or deteriorated seals around drainpipes can also allow sewer gas to leak out. If you can’t find the source, call a local plumber for expert help.
